Fajny maluch – te dwa słowa, które zawarłam w tytule niniejszej recenzji, idealnie oddają to, jakim smartfonem jest Xiaomi 17. To telefon, który zyskuje od pierwszych spędzonych z nim chwil – zwłaszcza, gdy należymy do osób o mniejszych dłoniach lub po prostu preferujemy mniejsze urządzenia niż zdecydowana większość oferowana dziś na rynku. Do największych wad Xiaomi 17 zaliczyłabym podatność na nagrzewanie się obudowy podczas dłuższego użytkowania, głośniki stereo, które nie grają symetrycznie (dolny gra zdecydowanie głośniej), a i powiadomienia potrafią nie przychodzić na czas, nawet, jeśli odpowiednio ustawione są opcje dedykowane powiadomieniom właśnie. Czas pracy jest przyzwoity, wydajność znakomita, zdjęcia robi niezłe, a to wszystko zamknięte w kompaktowej formie – dla wielu osób taki zestaw cech będzie wręcz pożądany. Konkurencja wśród małych flagowców jest ograniczona i osobiście cieszy mnie, że siedemnastka jest jednym z modeli godnych zainteresowania bez większych “ale”.

W codziennym użytkowaniu smartfon jest szybki, stabilny i przewidywalny, a kultura pracy stoi na wysokim poziomie. To urządzenie, które nie próbuje imponować na siłę, lecz konsekwentnie dostarcza wysoką jakość w kluczowych obszarach. Nie oznacza to jednak, że Xiaomi 17 jest pozbawiony wad. Jeżeli dotarłeś do podsumowania mojej recenzji Xiaomi 17, to raczej niczym Cię tu nie zaskoczę. Dla mnie to nadal najlepszy mały telefon na rynku i nie zapraszam tu do żadnej dyskusji. Z vivo X300 wygrywa ceną na poziomie 4199 złotych oraz większą baterią. Z Samsungiem Galaxy S26 wygrywa… wszystkim? iPhone 17 Pro broni się tylko wyłącznie ekosystemem Apple. Reszta to margines i nie mam wyjścia – muszę przyznać mu jakieś wyróżnienie. W ramach małego podsumowania zalet mamy tu genialną baterię, bardzo wygodną na co dzień obudowę, dobrą kulturę pracy, świetny aparat (również po zmroku, choć poza szerokim kątem), najlepsze na rynku wibracje i czytnik linii papilarnych. Wśród wad mogę wymienić tylko grzanie podczas hardkorowego grania oraz bloatware. Xiaomi odwaliło kawał dobrej roboty i trzeba to po prostu docenić. Na koniec bez wahania przyznaję Xiaomi 17 nagrodę wybór redaKcji gsmManiaKa. Moim zdaniem to najlepszy mały telefon na rynku. iPhone 17 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S26 i reszta po prostu nie mają do niego podejścia.

Xiaomi also addressed the Xiaomi 17’s higher starting price by bringing in a cheaper 256GB variant at S$1,149.When you look at its Leica-tuned cameras, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, the huge battery (with high uptimes), and super-fast charging speeds, the Xiaomi 17 ends up looking like the best compact option available right now. Hence, we think it remains as one of the best options for compact phone lovers who still want true flagship performance and experience. There’s always room to improve, though, and we’d love to see Xiaomi include an autofocus module in the ultrawide camera next year, along with upgrading the telephoto lens to a 3x optical zoom option or more.

However, this smartphone does get quite toasty, to worrying degrees. That Leica camera setup is a banger as always, with fresh hardware for this 2026 model (unlike the Galaxy S26). You can capture great-looking night shots and portraits, with a decent telephoto shooter attached. The Xiaomi 17 is also decent for recording video, if you want a mini vlogging device.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 may end up not matching the Xiaomi 17 in performance and battery life, but its superior software (along with its sleeker and lighter build) are likely to make it a more appealing compact phone overall. On one hand, the Xiaomi 17 doesn’t feel like a massive generational leap over the Xiaomi 15, and for that reason, I can’t imagine existing owners rushing to upgrade. On the other hand, it’s a great all-rounder, and if you’re looking for a flagship in a more compact chassis, few come close to this. It has a significantly bigger battery and faster charging than either the iPhone 17 or Galaxy S26, and in my opinion, better cameras, too. Software is a matter of personal preference, but HyperOS is super customisable, so if there’s anything you’re not keen on, you can likely change it. What Xiaomi can’t quite match is the software support terms. So if you’re planning to hold onto your phone for a long time, that could play into your decision. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Xiaomi 17; it has been great for gaming, content consumption, and photography alike. It’s an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a smaller flagship phone in 2026.

It successfully combines a compact size with a no-compromise performance and also delivers truly impressive battery life. The camera, while not mind-blowing in any way, is still more than capable for 90% of most people's needs. Pound-for-pound, the Xiaomi 17 beats its main rivals, like the iPhone 17, the Pixel 10 Pro, and will most likely beat the Galaxy S26, too, especially in terms of value. The only major downsides here are the on-board software, which is far from the best one out there, and the limited availability. Sure, you can get it easily from many of the online outlets that resell Chinese phones in the West, but this way you won't be able to benefit from any promotions and discounts. And as we know, this is what most people buying an iPhone, a Pixel, or a Galaxy from a US carrier benefit from. So the playing field is uneven from the get-go. Disregarding that, however, the Xiaomi 17 is an excellent phone that impressively beats most of its rivals.

The cameras, while capable, still need fine-tuning to match the best in every scenario, and region-based restrictions currently limit some of the phone’s most interesting software features. If Xiaomi can refine the global software experience and unlock the full potential of the secondary display and accessories, the 17 Pro could easily become one of the most compelling flagships. It may even be worth holding out for, should the brand decide to launch it in India.

Jeśli chodzi o nagrywanie wideo, Xiaomi 17 Ultra jest bardzo wysoko, ale to nie jest sprzęt bez wad. Mamy nagrywanie nawet w 8K, ale realnie najlepsze efekty daje 4K — szczególnie przy 60 albo 120 klatkach. Obraz jest bardzo szczegółowy, ma dobrą rozpiętość tonalną i dobrze radzi sobie w trudnym, kontrastowym świetle, na przykład w pełnym słońcu. Stabilizacja stoi na bardzo wysokim poziomie. Nagrania są płynne i dobrze wygładzone, bez nerwowych ruchów — to jest spokojnie poziom topowych flagowców. Duży plus za to, że można korzystać z różnych obiektywów i przełączać się między nimi bez większych problemów. Natomiast trzeba powiedzieć też o jednej rzeczy. Czasami widać ingerencję algorytmów — szczególnie przy większym zoomie albo trudniejszych scenach obraz potrafi być lekko „zmiękczony” albo mniej naturalny. To nie jest coś, co dyskwalifikuje ten telefon, ale nie zawsze mamy idealną spójność jakości. Do około 10x wideo nadal wygląda bardzo dobrze, później coraz bardziej wchodzi cyfrowe przetwarzanie. Z bardziej zaawansowanych rzeczy mamy nagrywanie w logu, tryb filmowy czy ACES, więc jeśli ktoś chce się bawić w montaż, to jest tu naprawdę sporo możliwości.

W przypadku jego następcy mógłbym użyć w zasadzie dokładnie takiego samego określenia, bo – naprawdę – jest on wypasionym, po zęby doposażonym smartfonem. Xiaomi 17 Ultra oferuje w zasadzie wszystko, czego można by oczekiwać. Aparat opiera się o mocne matryce i robi doskonałej jakości zdjęcia, wydajność stoi na kapitalnym poziomie, ekran jest świetny, a głośniki soczyście brzmiące i jedne z najlepszych na rynku. Trzeba to powiedzieć otwarcie: Xiaomi 17 Ultra jest drogim smartfonem. Cena na poziomie 6499 złotych za wariant 16/512 czyni go droższym od iPhone 17 Pro Max (6299 zł), co mimo wszystko jest przekroczeniem pewnej psychologicznej granicy. Droższe są już przede wszystkim składane smartfony. Tak, cenę w ramach oferty premierowej można sobie osłodzić dodawaną za złotówkę hulajnogą Xiaomi Scooter 5 Max lub tabletem Xiaomi Pad 8 8/128, których Apple przecież nie dodaje, ale… cóż, z taką świadomością wielu konsumentów wolałoby nie dostać „gratisu” i zapłacić mniej. Poza aspektem cenowym w stronę Xiaomi 17 Ultra trudno jest sformułować jakikolwiek naprawdę poważny zarzut. To pod każdym względem poprawiony model Xiaomi 15 Ultra i sprzęt, który wszystko robi dobrze. Ma większy ekran we w zasadzie identycznej bryle, znacznie dłuższy czas pracy na baterii (ekran o niższej rozdzielczości nie jest tu bez znaczenia) i jeszcze lepsze aparaty. Ekran OLED jest piękny, ma adaptacyjne odświeżanie, a głośniki grają jak przystało na flagowca. I to właśnie w zaletach Xiaomi 17 Ultra można dopatrywać się jego wysokiej ceny.

Zabierając się za testy Xiaomi 17 Ultra, spodziewałem się solidnego smartfona z dobrymi aparatami. Mimo to sprzęt zaskoczył. Jest to prawdopodobnie najlepszy smartfon fotograficzny, jaki kiedykolwiek testowałem. Poza tym jest to bardzo solidna konstrukcja o flagowych możliwościach. Ekran, wydajność, a nawet czas działania są tutaj w punkt. Konstrukcja ma pewne niedociągnięcia jak typowo chiński system z wieloma aplikacjami, smartfon pod obciążeniem się nagrzewa, a akumulator odstaje od wariantu na rynek macierzysty. Są to jednak drobnostki, a Xiaomi 17 Ultra to flagowiec kompletny.

Premierowy test Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Czy to najlepszy telefon do zdjęć na świecie?

Xiaomi 17 Ultra to najlepszy flagowiec w historii producenta – tak napisałem już na początku i tak zamknę tę recenzję. Jest telefonem bardziej dojrzałym i lepszym od Xiaomi 15 Ultra, a kosztuje podobne pieniądze. Poprawiono tu w zasadzie wszystko, a jedynym sensownym konkurentem w Polsce jest Oppo Find X9 Pro. Ten ma poważną przewagę – jest tańszy, bo kosztuje 5499 złotych, czyli o tysiaka mniej od Xiaomi. Tak naprawdę zgadza się tutaj wszystko. Mamy znacznie większą baterię niż przed rokiem – a co ważniejsze, realnie przekłada się to na czas pracy. Wyświetlacz jest jeszcze lepszy, wydajność skoczyła, HyperOS 3 to rozwiązanie większości problemów Xiaomi, a teleobiektyw mocno zyskał na wartości. To po prostu bardzo dobrze poprawiony poprzednik, a przecież to jest najważniejsze. Na koniec przypomnę, że zakup Xiaomi 17 Ultra można dość solidnie zamortyzować promocją na start. W jej ramach możesz za 1 PLN dostać tablet lub hulajnogę, obie o wartości około 2000 złotych. W związku z tym tego smartfona kupiłbym albo na start, albo za kilka miesięcy, gdy kwota zacznie mocno spadać na zagranicznych Amazonach. Co nie zmienia faktu, że tu i teraz taki zakup jestem w stanie polecić.

Every generation, I seem to enjoy Xiaomi’s Ultra effort for different reasons, but I’m glad the firm isn’t, like some rivals, just pumping out the same device year after year. For the 17 Ultra, the major change is a more familiar phone-style design, with flat sides and a fibreglass back, rather than the camera- style with vegan leather back. I’d like to see both available as options, as per last year, but the Starlit Green model I have looks nice and isn’t simply orange because an iPhone is. As long as you like the design here, the 17 Ultra ticks all the boxes you’d expect for a top-tier flagship: it has a dazzling screen, silky smooth performance, the latest wireless components, extras like an IR blaster you don’t find elsewhere, and one of the best camera systems in any phone right now. And that’s without factoring in the optional photography kits, which, compared to the likes of Samsung and Google, is still its secret weapon. Xiaomi has even kept the price the same as its predecessor, the 15 Ultra, which bucks the 2026 trend. Even so, if your heart isn’t set on an almost 7-inch phone with DSLR-like cameras, you can get similar performance for a lot less money – the regular Xiaomi 17 being a prime example. Those wanting all the extras won’t be disappointed with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, though.

Sure, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra sports some insane telephoto camera action, but its rivals aren't far behind. The Vivo X300 Ultra also boasts one of the best camera phone setups of 2026, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is just as beefy with solid specs. If you're after some of the best hardware that you can stuff into your shorts, you certainly came to the right video. All three also offer up a large 6000mAh-plus battery, although I did find that one of this smartphone trio wasn't as dependable as the others for all-day life. The OPPO Find X9 Ultra serves up better camera hardware on paper, and I already gushed all over it in my review. However, the Vivo X300 Ultra uses the same main sensor and is certainly one of the best phones in 2026 for snapping photos and video.

$2,394. That's how much it cost me to eBay the latest Leitzphone (plus its optional photography kit). If you know Leica, you know that’s the price to pay for the privilege of bearing one of the most coveted camera brands in history ... and I’ve spent two weeks trying to condense my thoughts about this latest "Leica Phone" into something coherent. From one viewpoint, it’s an impostor: a cynical money grab that wasn’t even built by Leica, can’t live up to the quality and won’t hold the value of a real camera. But while I understand that reflexive cynicism, I don’t share it. Because in my view, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica is everything a special-edition smartphone should be: it’s respectful to the heritage of the brand it’s building upon; it brings features (and photos) no other phone can produce; and it’s based on a flagship foundation with very few compromises. I’m MrMobile and I love this thing; lemme tell ya why.

Not because it matches a dedicated camera—it doesn’t—but because the gap has shrunk to where the convenience of always having it in your pocket starts winning over the marginal quality gain of carrying a separate body and lens—and a bag to carry them all. The 1-inch main sensor gives images real depth and tonal richness. The telephoto is the best zoom lens I’ve used on a phone.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra remains the best smartphone for photographers if we’re coming it at purely from a camera setup point of view. With its excellent one-inch sensor, plus two supporting great ones, including an innovative zoom lens, you can take great pictures in a diverse range of situations. Special modes, such as night, portrait and macro also produce excellent results. That said, there’s not a big difference here from the 15 Ultra, certainly in terms of photography anyway. The screen is bigger, the device is slimmer, the battery life is longer – but all of these things are perhaps small upgrades for the average person, compared to any kind of revolution in image quality. Of course, I expect most people don’t actually upgrade their phones every year. If you’ve got something older, such as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, or an older model from a completely different brand, this will represent a significant step-up so it’s worth considering. It comes in cheaper than the nearest rivals, including the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and arguably offers more for your money too. If you’re happy to step outside the “big two” and get something truly special for photography, this is the one to get. Overall, this is a superb phone and I can’t do much other than recommend it – except perhaps if you’ve already got last year’s model.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra remains the best smartphone for photographers if we’re coming it at purely from a camera setup point of view. With its excellent one-inch sensor, plus two supporting great ones, including an innovative zoom lens, you can take great pictures in a diverse range of situations. Special modes, such as night, portrait and macro also produce excellent results. That said, there’s not a big difference here from the 15 Ultra, certainly in terms of photography anyway. The screen is bigger, the device is slimmer, the battery life is longer – but all of these things are perhaps small upgrades for the average person, compared to any kind of revolution in image quality. Of course, I expect most people don’t actually upgrade their phones every year. If you’ve got something older, such as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, or an older model from a completely different brand, this will represent a significant step-up so it’s worth considering. It comes in cheaper than the nearest rivals, including the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and arguably offers more for your money too. If you’re happy to step outside the “big two” and get something truly special for photography, this is the one to get. Overall, this is a superb phone and I can’t do much other than recommend it – except perhaps if you’ve already got last year’s model.

I believe the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is a marquee device. That is because almost all Android phones north of Rs 1 lakh are marquee phones due to the challenge from the iPhone Pro. On the whole, the iPhones at this price range are just too good in terms of what they offer to consumers. They are generalist phones, doing everything in a way that makes most sense for most consumers. Having said that, it is important to acknowledge that there is a world beyond iPhones. And in this world, at least for now and in India, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the best phone to buy. It offers a remarkably polished user experience. And, along with the Pixel 10 Pro, it comes with arguably the best set of cameras you can currently get in the world of Android. But unlike the Pixel 10 Pro, it also offers superlative hardware. Overall, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the flagship Android phone to buy in India. It offers everything you may want in a phone, and it does so at a price that is fairly aggressive and reasonable compared to a few other flagship Android phones out there.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra made me hate AI photos. I wasn’t a big fan of tweaking my photos using AI editing tools in the first place. There is a sense of personality in capturing imperfect photos. I am, after all, an incredibly average photographer! I know my photos aren’t artistic, and I’m quite happy with that. I don’t need an AI object eraser to remove people or objects, or (more recently) type and describe how I want my photo to look, and let AI do its thing. A lot of phones now offer several AI tools to help you create that “perfect” photo. So, imagine my surprise when Xiaomi said they don’t want to rely heavily on AI camera features, but rather deliver on true camera hardware to help capture perfect photos. After using the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s cameras this week on Vietnam’s Phu Quoc island, capturing over 500 photos, I can safely say I agree with their vision.

Those who value what large sensors and Leica-approved optics can do are going to be in photography heaven here. I have my problems with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra – the software is still among my least favourites, the camera module is too chunky and the lower screen resolution and cheap feeling of the fiberglass rear don’t befit a phone of this price. But even still, it gets enough right elsewhere to earn my recommendation. Performance is among the best of any phone that we’ve tested to date, the cameras are sharp, versatile and accessible, battery life is decent and great strides have been made to deliver a slimmer, lighter and altogether more manageable flagship phone.

Whether you’re looking for high-end gaming performance, a superb screen and speakers, solid battery life and speedy charging, or an incredible camera system, the 17 Ultra has you covered. It’s really those who are into photography and videomaking that will enjoy this phone the most, though. The camera system is truly excellent, and at times, this feels more like a camera than a phone.Of course, no product is perfect, and there are a few areas where Xiaomi is bested by the competition. For instance, both the Oppo Find X9 Pro and Honor Magic 8 Pro have better battery life (in my experience), and they’re better for macro photography, too. But does that mean they’re better choices? Not necessarily. Xiaomi’s image processing and filter selection mean I often prefer the shots from the 17 Ultra, and it has plenty to offer elsewhere, too. One thing’s for certain, this is among the best camera phones available right now.

The camera package is excellent and truly something to behold, giving you exceptional quality and versatility. The only problem? Well, the only issue is last year's Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which was a bit more consistent even though it lacked a vario periscope. If you haven't used the Xiaomi 15 Ultra or even the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, however, you'd be none the wiser. Another downside is the software, which feels like something out of 2020 for all the wrong reasons.

The 1-inch sensor produces hugely detailed images with controlled highlights, especially at night, where the phone shines (not a pun). The overall look of images feels genuinely photographic. I love the Leica-tuned profiles that give images a professional tone that, to my eye, stands out from almost every other flagship right now. But it’s not flawless. The mechanical 75–100mm zoom is technically clever, yet in real use, I didn’t find the 25mm range enough to be transformative.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra makes one thing very clear: this is a camera-first flagship in every sense. From the 1-inch primary sensor to the new continuous optical zoom telephoto system, the phone is engineered around photography rather than just adding impressive specs for the sake of it. In both daylight and low light, it consistently delivers results that are among the best I’ve seen on a smartphone so far this year. Beyond the cameras, the upgrades are meaningful. A larger 6.9-inch flat display, a massive 6,800mAh battery without added bulk, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset all make this a serious flagship package. The only caveat is that this Chinese unit has certain software limitations, so it’s hard to judge the full experience until the global version arrives.

Trzeba uczciwie przyznać, że Xiaomi 17T tanieje na potęgę. Minął niecały miesiąc od premiery, a początkowej ceny 2999 złotych niewiele zostało. Według porównywarki cenowej Ceneo kosztuje 2500 złotych, a spodziewam się, że po wakacjach kwota ta w promocjach spadnie poniżej poziomu 2 tysięcy. Czy warto go kupić i za ile? Jak wiesz po lekturze mojej recenzji, moim zdaniem jest to bardzo udany smartfon. Mniejszy ekran i większa bateria od poprzednika sprawiają, że trudno rozładować go w jeden dzień.

The overarching theme here is that the Xiaomi 17T shares a great deal of features with its Pro sibling. So many, in fact, that my recommendation is firmly to forgo the Pro and save some cash with the standard model. You still get brilliant battery life, a pixel-perfect display, and that fantastic 5x telephoto camera – plus the rest of the cameras are great, too. More to the point, the issues that plague the Xiaomi 17T are, for the most part, flaws of the Pro model, too: the software is fussy, but universal across Xiaomi phones; the 17T Pro uses the same fiberglass on the rear (albeit with an aluminium frame) and, as is the case across the smartphone spectrum this year, prices have increased. So of the two, the Xiaomi 17T is firmly my favourite. As for how it compares to the rest of the competition? Well, that 5x telephoto camera is doing a lot of heavy lifting, but it is a unique feature that the chief players in this price range can’t match. If you favour photography above all else, the Xiaomi 17T is well worth your consideration.

The Xiaomi 17T provides more of a meaningful upgrade over its predecessor, with an improved camera array, stronger battery life and more stylish colour choices. Against key rivals, performance feels a little lacking, though, and I’m still not sold fully on HyperOS. The performance here is more in line with traditional mid-range handsets, such as the Nothing 4a Pro and the Google Pixel 10a, although it is somewhat above the Honor 600 in some respects. I think the other choices have a better skin of Android with less clutter, which makes a real difference. With this in mind, there’s a lot to like here that makes this the best T-suffixed non-Pro phone from Xiaomi yet – I’m just not sure it’s as much of a flagship killer as they may tout it to be. I do wish Xiaomi had improved on the placement of the fingerprint sensor from the Xiaomi 15T Pro. It's still located too low at the bottom of the screen, which can be awkward to reach. And while the 17T has an Always-On Display, you can't actually leave it permanently on so it's not really always on, I guess. The 17 Pro can be configured to do so, but it doesn't appear to be an LTPO display that can drop down to 1Hz to conserve power, so Xiaomi doesn't enable it by default to save power.

Przez dwa tygodnie testów Xiaomi 17T Pro naprawdę mocno próbowałem znaleźć w nim wady. I tak naprawdę poza bloatware w oprogramowaniu nie znalazłem powodu, by nie polecić jego zakupu. Tę kwestię można łatwo rozwiązać zaraz przy pierwszej konfiguracji, poblkować co należy, a później cieszyć się względnie czystym oprogramowaniem. Jasne, że wymaga to trochę zachodu i chciałoby się, żeby telefon idealnie działał już po wyjęciu z pudełka, ale niższa niż u konkurencji cena nie bierze się znikąd. Na poczet zalet zapisać muszę całą resztę. Xiaomi 17T Pro ma bardzo dobry ekran, nareszcie jest oferowany w naprawdę ładnych kolorach, a do jakości wykonania nie można mieć żadnych zastrzeżeń. Bateria jest kapitalność, a dzięki nareszcie dobremu układowi chłodzenia granie godzinami to czysta przyjemność. Do tego mamy bardzo dobry, ponadprzeciętny w tej klasie aparat. Po prostu nie mam się do czego przyczepić. Na koniec nie będzie więc żadną niespodzianką, że przyznaję Xiaomi 17T Pro wysoką ocenę oraz nagrodę „Wybór RedaKcji”. Jest droższy od poprzednika, ale jest też lepszy na każdym polu. Jeżeli w 2026 roku masz sobie kupić Xiaomi, to wybierz tego.

I'm not going to talk about the software too much; the 17T Pro comes with Android 16 out of the box, and it is optimized to run fluidly on the phone. I didn't see any lag or slowdowns, but the software itself is in need of a visual overhaul, and it doesn't feel quite as modern to use as OriginOS and ColorOS. It wasn't all that long ago that you could get a Xiaomi T series phone for around $500. But the industry as a whole is trending upwards in this area, and it isn't just Xiaomi that's selling its value flagships at what would've been flagships prices three years ago (the Xiaomi 13 debuted at €999 in 2023). So, where does that leave the 17T Pro? You're not getting huge gains from the 15T Pro, so if you're able to get last year's phone at a discounted price, that would be my recommendation — it has 90% of the same features. But if you aren't able to get the 15T Pro at a decent deal and need a bigger battery, the 17T Pro is a viable alternative. I still think it's better to wait a little while before buying the phone — Xiaomi will inevitably lower prices over the coming weeks, like it does with all devices in its portfolio. If you'd rather not wait, POCO's F8 Ultra is a solid choice as well — it has a better design, amazing cameras, the latest internals, and a 6,500mAh battery — and it costs a much more reasonable €659 right now.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro is a great all-rounder. The cameras are excellent, it's powerful, it looks and feels premium, and it comes at a lower cost than most flagship devices. The only problem is that it's very similar to last year's 15T Pro. If you own the older model, there's not really any reason to upgrade, unless your battery keeps dying prematurely. And if you're a savvy shopper, opting for the older model, or the frequently discounted base model Xiaomi 17, might make more sense. That said, if you're looking for a phone in this price range, the Xiaomi 17T Pro still stands out as one of the best options. It has a more versatile camera system and better video features than its closest competitors, the Honor 600 Pro or Vivo X300 FE, and it rivals them in performance, too. So, while it might not be the most exciting update, the Xiaomi 17T Pro remains competitive in 2026. I had a great time using it, especially the 5x telephoto, which continues to surprise me with its excellent results.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro feels like an excellent alley that fumbled the oop. The hardware, despite only improving on last year in a couple of places, is strong across almost the entire board. The proverbial fumble here is completely tied to the price. The forces that are putting pressure on phone prices the world over are far out of Xiaomi’s control, so perhaps it’s a little unfair to lay the blame for this at its feet, but we aren’t here to feel sorry for multi-million pound companies. We’re here to decide if you should buy the Xiaomi 17T Pro, and the answer to that is probably not, no. If you really fancy it, save some cash and get the standard Xiaomi 17T – it’s barely a downgrade but costs quite a bit less. If you’re brand agnostic, I’ll say what I always say when we’re judging phones in this price range right now: you won’t find better value for money than with the OnePlus 15.

However, in other ways it truly is excellent, as you'll see from my test shots and home movies. You'd hope that the battery life would be dependably long too, with the 7000mAh cell stuffed inside. Here's how the Xiaomi 17T Pro coped with regular everyday use, as well as gaming and more intensive stuff. So, are you tempted by this smartphone? Personally I'd lean towards flagships like the OnePlus 15 and OPPO Find X9 series, while the Poco X8 Pro Max offers many of the same Xiaomi 17T Pro benefits at a nicer price.

I do wish Xiaomi had improved on the placement of the fingerprint sensor from the Xiaomi 15T Pro. It's still located too low at the bottom of the screen, which can be awkward to reach. And while the 17T has an Always-On Display, you can't actually leave it permanently on so it's not really always on, I guess. The 17 Pro can be configured to do so, but it doesn't appear to be an LTPO display that can drop down to 1Hz to conserve power, so Xiaomi doesn't enable it by default to save power.

Xiaomi’s software can frustrate, the screen glass lets the display performance down, and there’s no denying this is a big, bulky phone.Does this all add up to a phone that was worth launching just eight months after the last one? It’s questionable. Xiaomi said it launched earlier than expected to show off Leica’s camera experience to more people, something that doesn’t really add up considering the 17T Pro’s camera is extremely similar to the 15T Pro’s. However, the Xiaomi 17T Pro’s long battery life does save it. It’s a genuine day-to-day game changer, and an answer to a lot of people’s problems with modern flagship phones. This is one of the best examples of the benefits a silicon-carbon battery and an efficient processor can bring to a phone.
