In the end, I think the Oppo Find X9’s biggest problem has nothing to do with how good it is as a phone. It’s an exceptional piece of hardware. The biggest issue for me is that it’s very similar to the Find X9 Pro. It’s not much smaller than the ‘Pro’-labelled bigger sibling, it’s got the same processor, and a lot of the same features. It’s left me a bit confused as to why both exist, and if there has to be a non-Pro, why it’s not significantly cheaper with a few more compromises? It’s to the point where – having used both – despite some of the features being slightly better on the Pro version, I’d rather save a little money and get largely the same device. I can live without a dedicated camera button or the slightly better zoom camera for a lighter, smaller device with pretty much all the same features.

The biggest issue for me is that it’s very similar to the Find X9 Pro. It’s not much smaller than the ‘Pro’-labelled bigger sibling, it’s got the same processor, and a lot of the same features. It’s left me a bit confused as to why both exist, and if there has to be a non-Pro, why it’s not significantly cheaper with a few more compromises? It’s to the point where – having used both – despite some of the features being slightly better on the Pro version, I’d rather save a little money and get largely the same device. I can live without a dedicated camera button or the slightly better zoom camera for a lighter, smaller device with pretty much all the same features.
