Dość lekki notebook (ok. 1,8 kg/~4 lb) nie zdradza żadnych wad produkcyjnych. Wieko i jednostkę zasadniczą można nieco skręcić - całość mieści się całkowicie w granicach możliwości. Dostęp do wnętrzności jest możliwy po zdjęciu jednostki zasadniczej. Asus postawił na metalową obudowę o matowych powierzchniach.

B5 oferuje dwa porty USB-A (1x USB 3.2 Gen 2, 1x USB 2.0) i dwa porty USB-C (2x Thunderbolt 4; Power Delivery, Displayport). Można było podłączyć do 3 monitorów zewnętrznych (1x HDMI, 2x DP). Czytnik kart pamięci microSD (karta referencyjna: AV PRO microSD 128 GB V60) to jeden z wolnych modeli. Dobre: Kamera internetowa (2,1 MP, maks. 1 920 x 1 080 pikseli) posiada mechaniczną osłonę.

Prędkości transferu WLAN wyznaczone w optymalnych warunkach (brak innych urządzeń WLAN w pobliżu, niewielka odległość między notebookiem a komputerem serwerowym) okazują się znakomite.

Klawisze odpornej na zachlapanie, podświetlanej klawiatury typu chiclet oferują średni skok i wyraźny punkt nacisku. Opór stawiany przez klawisze jest w porządku. Minimalne uginanie się klawiatury w najlepszym wypadku nie okazało się denerwujące. Podsumowując, jest to klawiatura nadająca się do codziennego użytku.

Gładka powierzchnia multidotykowego gładzika (ok. 15 x 9,1 cm/~5,9 x 3,6 cala) ułatwia ślizganie się palców. Podkładka reaguje na wejścia w narożnikach, ma krótki skok i oferuje wyraźny punkt nacisku.

Matowa powierzchnia odbijająca światło (powłoka AntiGlare) 16-calowego ekranu dotykowego OLED (3.840 x 2.400 pikseli) w przyjaznym dla pracy formacie 16:10 znacznie redukuje odbicia, ale nie zapobiega im całkowicie.

Jako typowy dla OLED-ów panel błyszczy doskonałym kontrastem i wartością czerni. Punktuje jednak także krótkimi czasami reakcji i stosunkowo wysoką jasnością maksymalną.

Jasność regulowana jest poprzez przyciemnianie poszczególnych pasów w obrębie wyświetlanej treści ekranowej. W przypadku panelu B5 dzieje się to z dość niską częstotliwością 240 Hz przy poziomie jasności ≤ 50 procent. Efekt ten jest podobny do znanego migotania PWM, ale nie można go bezpośrednio porównać.

Warunki badania

Możliwe jest przełączanie pomiędzy trzema specyficznymi dla producenta trybami pracy wentylatora (patrz tabela) poprzez kombinację klawiszy "Fn" + "F". Wykorzystano "tryb wydajności" (benchmarki) oraz "tryb szeptu" (test akumulatora). Ten pierwszy jest dostępny tylko podczas pracy w sieci. Tryby wpływają na wydajność CPU i GPU.

Procesor

Na stronie Core i7-1260P-Procesor (Alder Lake) składa się z czterech rdzeni wydajnościowych (hyperthreading, od 2,1 do 4,7 GHz) i ośmiu wydajnościowych (bez hyperthreadingu, od 1,5 do 3,4 GHz). W sumie daje to 16 logicznych rdzeni CPU. Procesor ten osiąga ponadprzeciętne wyniki w benchmarkach.

W teście wielowątkowym benchmarku Cinebench R15 są one przetwarzane z częstotliwością odpowiednio 3,8 GHz (rdzenie P) i 3 GHz (rdzenie E). Test jednowątkowy jest przeprowadzany z częstotliwością od 2,2 do 4,7 GHz (rdzenie P) i od 1,5 do 3,4 GHz (rdzenie E). W trybie bateryjnym częstotliwości taktowania są niższe. Test pętli CB15 pokazuje: Obciążenie wielowątkowe jest spełniane przy wysokim taktowaniu Turbo tylko przez krótki czas. Po kilku sekundach stawki spadają w najlepszym razie do poziomu średniego.
