W zeszłym roku na naszą ławkę testową dotarła tylko 15-calowa wersja Predatora Helios 300 nur in der 15-Zoll-Variante, a wtedy jeszcze korzystała z procesora Comet Lake i RTX 3070. Teraz wersja 17-calowa jest wyposażona w procesor Alder Lake i m.in RTX 3070 Tio mocy 150 W

Dla porównania pozwoliliśmy obecnemu Heliosowi rywalizować z 15-calowym poprzednikiem, a także uwzględniamy m.in Razer Blade 17, tj HP Omen 17, theAorus 17(X), oraz MSI Vector GP76.

Obecny Helios 300 nadal wykazuje wiele podobieństw do swojego przodka sprzed dwóch lat, ale są też pewne różnice. To co pozostało bez zmian to matowo-czarny kolor oraz materiały. Podczas gdy górna część podstawy i wyświetlacz są wykonane z metalu, ramki wyświetlacza i dolna płyta są wykonane z tworzywa sztucznego.

Z wewnętrznej i zewnętrznej strony pokrywy wyświetlacza zniknęło oznakowanie "Predator", teraz widać tylko symbol. Kolejną rzeczą, która zniknęła są wąskie paski LED na pokrywie wyświetlacza

Nie zauważyliśmy żadnych nietypowych szczelin między materiałami, a jakość wykonania stoi na dobrym poziomie.

17-calowy laptop jest oczywiście cięższy i głębszy od swojego 15-calowego rodzeństwa, ale jest też prawie 5 mm (~0,2 cala) grubszy. Z systemem chłodzenia wystającym z tyłu, podobnie jak w modelach Alienware, ma znacznie większą głębokość, co czyni go większym niż inne 17-calowe laptopy do gier

Jeśli chodzi o wagę, to również jest on co najmniej 100 gramów (~3,5 oz) cięższy od konkurencji.

Wyposażenie - Niektóre połączenia przeniesione na tył

Dwa lata temu 17-calowy Predator nie miał żadnych połączeń z tyłu. Teraz to się zmienia, dzięki czemu powstaje też więcej miejsca po bokach. Liczba złączy pozostaje jednak taka sama. Jeden z portów USB-A został nieco zaktualizowany, a port Thunderbolt USB-C obsługuje teraz DisplayPort. Nadal nie ma czytnika kart SD.

Komunikacja

Oprócz połączenia LAN, urządzenie oferuje moduł WLAN Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1675i, który również pozwala na surfowanie w obrębie sieci 6-GHz.

Obsługiwana jest blokada Kensington Lock, a także TPM 2.0. Z drugiej strony brakuje czujnika linii papilarnych, ale możemy to wybaczyć. To co jest trudniejsze do zniesienia to brak migawki kamerki internetowej.

Akcesoria i gwarancja

Acer jest pazerny na akcesoria, a w zestawie nie ma żadnego. W Niemczech okres gwarancji obejmuje dwa lata z serwisem wysyłkowym.

Konserwacja

Aby zdjąć spód obudowy, trzeba odkręcić 11 śrubek Philipsa o podobnej długości. Najlepiej zacząć od przednich narożników, ponieważ z tyłu nie widać wyraźnie, gdzie kończy się płyta spodnia. Ze względu na miękki plastikowy spód, trzeba również bardzo ostrożnie używać odpowiednich narzędzi do wybijania.

Po zdjęciu płyty spodniej uzyskuje się dostęp do dysku SSD, wentylatorów, modułu Wi-Fi i akumulatora. Pamięć DDR5-RAM jest również dostępna, ale znajduje się pod dodatkową metalową osłoną, którą trzeba zdjąć za pomocą kolejnej śrubki.

Urządzenia wejściowe - działające w Heliosie 300

Klawiatura

Acer zastosował klawiaturę z blokiem numerycznym i podświetleniem "Pulsar", które można również regulować dla każdego klawisza z osobna. Blok numeryczny zawiera także specjalny klawisz, który jest zarezerwowany do otwierania oprogramowania Predator Sense, które pełni rolę swego rodzaju centrum sterowania.

Same klawisze mają raczej krótki i średni skok, ale oferują wyraźny punkt nacisku, co skutkuje dobrym sprzężeniem zwrotnym. Klawiatura pozwala na dość szybkie i wygodne pisanie. Odgłos pisania jest bardzo umiarkowany, ale klawisz spacji jest nieco głośniejszy.

Pod naciskiem środek klawiatury może się uginać, ale nie będzie to miało miejsca podczas regularnego pisania.

Touchpad

Touchpad, który krytykowaliśmy dwa lata temu, otrzymał remont.

Przy wymiarach około 12,15 x 8,3 cm (~4,8 x 3,3 cala) touchpad oferuje dobre właściwości ślizgowe, a zintegrowane klawisze również mają wygodny i łatwo wyczuwalny punkt nacisku. Odgłosy klikania są tu również umiarkowane.

Niewielkie krwawienie z ekranu po lewej stronie

Acer zastosował matowy wyświetlacz IPS firmy BOE o rozdzielczości 2560 x 1440 pikseli (16:9) i częstotliwości odświeżania 165 Hz. Alternatywne opcje są dostępne tylko w 15-calowym Predatorze (Full HD).

Przy jasności 340 nitów panel przewyższa nie tylko poprzednika, ale także m.in Blade 17. Rozkład jasności jest w miarę równomierny na poziomie 85%

Wartość czerni i kontrast odpowiadają dobrej klasie średniej. Nie jesteśmy jednak w stanie potwierdzić reklamowanego czasu reakcji wynoszącego tylko 3 ms, ale zamiast tego mierzymy około 11 ms na zmianę czerni na biel. Panel nie cierpi z powodu PWM.

Pokryta przestrzeń kolorów jest dość dobra i jest w stanie konkurować z tą z Razer Blade. Oprócz pełnej przestrzeni barw sRGB, pokryta jest również DisplayP3 w prawie 97%, a AdobeRGB jeszcze w około 85%.

W stanie dostawy wyświetlacz jest wyregulowany dość dobrze, a kalibracja naszym narzędziem do kalibracji kolorów Portrait Display Calman przynosi tylko minimalną poprawę. To sprawia, że kalibracja przez użytkowników jest naprawdę zbędna.

Procesorom towarzyszy pokaźna ilość 32 GB pamięci DDR5-RAM i 1 TB pamięci masowej. Dzięki temu laptop powinien być w stanie płynnie odtwarzać niemal wszystkie obecne gry w natywnej rozdzielczości.

Warunki badania

Oprogramowanie Predator Sense jest preinstalowane jako oprogramowanie centrum sterowania. Aby uzyskać najlepsze wyniki w benchmarkach, wybieramy tryb wydajności "Extreme", w którym CPU i GPU są prawdopodobnie lekko "podkręcone" Poza Extreme jest jeszcze tryb Turbo, dla którego również istnieje dodatkowy klawisz do aktywacji lub dezaktywacji. Jednak za to wentylatory zawsze pracują na pełnych obrotach, więc dla nas tryb Extreme, który też nie jest specjalnie cichy, powinien wystarczyć.

StronaIntel Core i7-12700Hczęsto bierze udział w naszych testach laptopów gamingowych. Procesor z generacji Intel Alder Lake oferuje 6 rdzeni Performance i 8 Efficiency z 20 wątkami i taktowaniem od 1,8 do 4,7 GHz. Powinien dobrze poradzić sobie ze wszystkimi grami.

TDP w trybie Extreme i przy zasilaniu sieciowym

TDP w trybie standardowym i przy zasilaniu sieciowym

Dzięki trybowi Extreme wydajność procesora jest bardzo dobra, sięgając znacznie powyżej wydajności przeciętnego i7-12700Hdzięki lekkiemu podkręceniu - przynajmniej w naszej pętli Cinebench R15. Przekonuje też bardzo stała wydajność przy TDP wynoszącym około 120 W.

Dzięki temu nasz testowany egzemplarz bije na głowę urządzenia porównawcze, a jedynie MSI Vectorjest w stanie w połowie dotrzymać kroku. Helios bije na głowę m.in poprzednika z Comet Lakeo prawie 100% w zadaniach wielowątkowych. Wydajność jednordzeniowa jest jednak tylko przeciętna.

Jeśli przełączymy się na cichszy tryb Standard, TDP osiąga pełne 120 W tylko w pierwszym przebiegu. Później waha się bardziej w okolicach 85 W w ciągu jednego przebiegu. Rozwiązanie w zakresie przechowywania

Acer zastosował szybki dysk Samsung 980 Pro z 1 TB przestrzeni dyskowej i obsługą PCIe 4.0 x4. W naszym Liście rankingowej SSD, model ten zajmuje 10 miejsce.

W naszym teście dysk SSD osiąga dobre wartości w porównaniu, ale niestety nie jest w stanie utrzymać tychże w teście stałego obciążenia, mimo podkładki chłodzącej i wydajnego chłodzenia. Ponieważ było to dla nas zaskoczeniem, powtórzyliśmy później test trzykrotnie, ale zawsze otrzymywaliśmy podobny wynik.

Częstotliwość taktowania GPU pozostaje w miarę stała i wynosi około 1,6 GHz, a procesor graficzny rozgrzewa się do temperatury 71°C (160°F). Karta graficzna zużywa 150 W niemal przez cały czas, ale do tego właśnie została zaprojektowana.

Poziomy hałasu

Żeby było jasne, w trybie Extreme Helios 300 jest jednym z najgłośniejszych urządzeń, jakie kiedykolwiek testowaliśmy. Nawet podczas pracy w trybie jałowym wentylatory warkotają już z prędkością ponad 40 dB, co jest bardzo głośnym wynikiem. Podczas gry lub w trakcie stress testu poziom hałasu wzrasta wtedy do ponad 60 dB! Podobnie wydajny MSI Vectorosiąga już 56 dB, ale reszta konkurentów jest znacznie cichsza i wynosi około 50 dB.

Dla bardziej wrażliwych uszu polecamy zatem tryb Standard, przy którym w The Witcher 3 mierzymy "tylko" 50 dB, zamiast 62 dB. Podczas pracy w trybie jałowym tryb ten pozostaje znacznie cichszy, a w części wentylatory pozostają wtedy nawet całkowicie wyłączone lub cicho świszczą na poziomie 25,6 dB. Naszym zdaniem niewielki wzrost wydajności w trybie Extreme jest raczej nie wart ekstremalnego poziomu hałasu.

Przynajmniej wysoki poziom hałasu systemu chłodzenia ma też jedną zaletę - urządzenie pozostaje stosunkowo chłodne nawet przy dużym obciążeniu. Szczególnie górna część obudowy pozostaje poniżej 40 °C (104 °F) nawet podczas gry, co jest wyczynem, który tylko HP Omen 17jest w stanie przebić.

Rdzenie rozpoczynają nasz stress test z częstotliwością do 3,8 GHz. Po około 2 minutach osiągają temperaturę 100 °C (212 °F), co powoduje spadek TDP ze 100 - 110 watów do zaledwie 65 watów. Odpowiednio spadają też prędkości taktowania do około 2,1 GHz, przy czym rdzenie Efficiency są znacznie szybsze - około 2,9 GHz - od mocniejszych rdzeni Performance (około 1,5 GHz). Temperatura CPU ustaliła się na poziomie około 85°C (185°F).

W trakcie testu taktowanie GPU waha się w granicach 1,1-1,8 GHz, przy czym prędkość zapisu również zmienia się nieznacznie (1,5-1,8 GHz). Temperatura nie jest jednak tak wysoka i wynosi około 71°C (160°F) a maksymalnie 75°C (167°F). Średnio GPU zużywa tylko 118 W mocy.

Czas pracy na baterii

Acer stosuje tutaj baterię o pojemności 90 Wh, więc z wyjątkiem Aorusa wszyscy konkurenci stosują mniejsze akumulatory.

W zależności od jasności ekranu, bateria wytrzymuje od 5 do 6 godzin surfowania po sieci lub około 6 godzin odtwarzania filmów. Predator jest duży, ciężki i głośny, ale oferuje też sporą wydajność według graczy. Dobre osiągi to jednak nie wszystko, dość dobry wyświetlacz zaskakuje nas także 97% pokryciem przestrzeni kolorów DisplayP3. Jest on również w stanie zwyciężyć z panelem w Blade 17.

Podkręcony laptop do gier - lub jego użytkownik - musi też zmagać się z typowymi wadami, o których wspominaliśmy wyżej. Z drugiej strony podkręcanie jest opcjonalne, a ci, którzy lubią spokojniej i mogą żyć z kilkoma mniejszymi klatkami na sekundę, mogą też przełączyć się na znacznie bardziej umiarkowany tryb Standard. Wtedy Helios 300 nie będzie wcale głośniejszy od konkurencji.

Acer Predator Helios 300 PH317 oferuje dobry wyświetlacz i nawet dwa tryby podkręcania z odpowiednio mocną wydajnością. Choć osiąga się to z typowymi wadami, tryby te są opcjonalne.

Wśród konkurentów należy wymienić m.in Razer Blade 17poleca się sam. Choć nie oferuje równie dużej brutalnej wydajności, pozostaje też stosunkowo cichy i chłodny. Jeśli musi to być podobnie wysoka wydajność, można też rzucić okiem na m.in MSI Vector, który zużywa nieco mniej energii przy niemal podobnie wysokiej wydajności.
