Test Dell Vostro 1320

Mało jest laptopów z 13-calową matrycą o matowej powierzchni. Vostro 1320 też nie można do nich zaliczyć, gdyż posiada ekran z powłoką antyodblaskową. To notebook o mocnej budowie, dzięki czemu przewyższa klasą większość propozycji konkurencji, nawet tych oferowanych w podobnych cenach.

Obudowa

Dell Vostro 1320 jest jednym z laptopów, które zrazu nie wyglądają obiecująco, ale docenia się je po pewnym czasie użytkowania. W przypadku tej serii czas potrzebny na przejście od obojętności do uznania jest zresztą nader krótki.
 
Wystrój zewnętrzny Vostro 1320 jest nieciekawy. Lakierowane, połyskujące wieko trochę przeraża, o ile ocenia je osoba szukająca laptopa, którego można używać bez ceregieli i często przenosić z miejsca na miejsce. Pokrywa ekranu jest gruba i w starym stylu kanciasta. Maksymalnie uproszczony jest też pulpit ukazujący się po podniesieniu wieka. Przejawami nowoczesności są tylko przyciski dotykowe do sterowania odtwarzaniem multimediów i siłą dźwięku w liczbie siedmiu.

Zapatrywanie na Vostro 1320 zmienia się, gdy uruchomi się komputer i położy dłonie na jego pulpicie. Laptop ten jest nieduży i poręczny (aczkolwiek w jego klasie wielkościowej znajdziemy smuklejsze konstrukcje). Pulpit jest matowy i nie zostają na nim ślady po palcach. Podobnie jest z ramką ekranu, na której nie odbija się światło, czyli tym samym odpada jeden z problemów występujący przy korzystaniu z laptopa. Krytycznie oceniamy natomiast lakierowane ścianki boczne obudowy łącznie z wystającą częścią tacki napędu optycznego. Bez wątpienia będą się one rysować się od blaszek pendrive'ów czy innych metalowych wtyczek. Te fragmenty obudowy wyglądają bardziej efektownie niż w innych laptopach, ale nie jest to rozwiązanie sensowne.

Vostro 1320 jest bowiem laptopem przeznaczonym dla biznesu, więc chciałoby się, by był jak najbardziej praktyczny. W tym aspekcie najbardziej docenia się solidność obudowy. Od pierwszego kontaktu ma się wrażenie, że jednostka zasadnicza jest optymalnie sztywna. Na przykładzie tego laptopa można stwierdzić, iż mylny jest pogląd, że Vostro to linia komputerów Della o niższej jakości. Gdyby tak było, źle to świadczy o najbardziej prestiżowych seriach innych marek, z którymi Vostro 1320 może się śmiało mierzyć.

Platforma robocza jest nader sztywna dzięki wzmocnieniom korpusu ze stopu magnezu.  Choć obudowa generalnie nie trzeszczy, to można uzyskać minimalne skrzypienie poprzez naduszanie prawej połaci pulpitu w centralnym jej punkcie; plus do tego pyka obudowa napędu optycznego. Symbolicznie acz odczuwalnie ugina się przy naciskaniu listwa przy lewej krawędzi pulpitu, nad otworami wentylacyjnymi, na wysokości tabulatora. Są to jednak mankamenty o marginalnym znaczeniu, nie dające o sobie znać przy codziennym użytkowaniu i nadające się do całkowitego zignorowania.

Dobre wrażenie robi też swoją stabilnością obudowa ekranu. Wykazuje bardzo dobrą odporność na wyginanie na boki oraz po przekątnej. Uginanie się naduszanego wieka nie jest zbyt duże.

Jeżeli chodzi o ergonomię, nie każdemu przypadnie do gustu "mączysta" faktura pulpitu. Kiedy się go dotyka, wyczuwa się nie gładką powierzchnię a lekką szorstkość. Nawet jeśli specjalnie nie lubi się takiego wrażenia, można przywyknąć, a to żadna cena za brak odcisków palców w tym newralgicznym miejscu.

Choć obudowa jest kanciasta, jej krawędzie i narożniki nie są na tyle ostre, by wpijać się w ręce użytkownika i go uwierać.

Zawiasy działają znakomicie. Chodzący dość opornie ekran jest utrzymywany stabilnie w nadanej mu pozycji. Ekran można położyć prawie poziomo, więc w razie potrzeby da się ustawić platformę roboczą w pozycji odchylonej od pionu o kilkadziesiąt stopni.

Złącza są rozmieszczone bardzo sensownie jak na tak mały notebook. Dwa porty (LAN i D-Sub) znalazły się z tyłu, co w dzisiejszych czasach jest rzadkością. Napęd optyczny usytuowano z przodu z prawej, czyli w optymalnym miejscu. Vostro 1320 posiada cztery porty USB - trzy z prawej i jeden z lewej strony. Można się przyczepić właśnie do USB, bo zajęcie jednego z prawej utrudnia używanie przełącznika WiFi a dwa za nim znajdują się przy samiuśkim gnieździe zasilania.

Osprzęt

Klawiatura to zwykle jeden z mocnych elementów laptopów Della, szczególnie tych dla klienta biznesowego. Nie podobały się nam w niej jedynie dwie cechy. Po pierwsze grube płytki są nie dość stabilne i latają na różne strony, a po drugie ich powierzchnia użytkowa jest za mała. Lepiej byłoby wyprofilować je w taki sposób, by u góry miały większą powierzchnię, a wyczuwanie granic pomiędzy nimi było minimalnie trudniejsze.

Układ klawiszy jest bardzo dobry. Nie można też narzekać na rozmiary klawiszy alfanumerycznych, specjalnych a nawet klawiszy kierunkowych (strzałki są długie, aczkolwiek dość wąskie). Główny problem związany z rozmieszczeniem klawiszy to sterujące pozycją kursora PGUp i PgDn nad klawiszami bocznych strzałek - w początkowej fazie testów kursor często uciekał nam o stronę w górę lub w dół, zamiast przesuwać się o pozycję w bok.

Na klawiaturze Vostro pisze się dobrze, gdyż klawisze stawiają opór mocny, aczkolwiek nie przesadny. Stuk klawiszy jest wyraźny, ale nie odbieraliśmy go jako uciążliwy.

Gładzik ma skromne rozmiary, co oczywiście rzutuje na komfort użytkowania. Operuje się nim jednak dość sprawnie. Fabryczne ustawienia nie są optymalne, ale po niewielkich korektach daje się je w miarę naprostować. Tak czy inaczej precyzja działania mogłaby być lepsza.

Oba testowane egzemplarze były wyposażone w matrycę AU Optronics o przekątnej 13,3" i rozdzielczości 1280x800 pikseli (WXGA). Okazało się, że to ekran z powłoką antyodblaskową (Dell oferuje również wersję z matrycą błyszczącą, czyli z technologią TrueLife), nazywany czasem półmatowym. Co prawda odbija on otoczenie, ale w niewielkim stopniu, a kiedy działa i wyświetla obraz, tego niepożądanego efektu w ogóle nie widać. Folia antyodblaskowa nadaje powierzchni ekranu fioletowe zabarwienie widoczne przy oględzinach pod światło.

Porównując tę samą matrycę w dwóch modelach o różnym wyposażeniu, zaobserwowaliśmy, że laptop wyposażony w kartę Nvidii wyświetla nieco jaśniejszy obraz a także prezentuje odrobinę lepsze kolory. Jakość obrazu dwóch różnych Vostro 1320 była jednak porównywalna. Co więcej, ze względu na jej minimalne zaniebieszczenie na ustawieniach fabrycznych bardziej pasowała biel w wersji z kartą grafiki Intela (w tej drugiej miała lekko przyżółcony odcień, co daje gorszy efekt przy wyświetlaniu tekstu).

Uzyskiwany obraz jest generalnie ładny, pozbawiony poważniejszych felerów, choć przy nastawach fabrycznych kolory są słabo nasycone (ich jakość powinna być dostateczna dla niewymagającego użytkownika). Obraz nie jest ziarnisty. Odblaski są słabe, więc komfort użytkowania jest duży i użytkownik ma sporą swobodę w wyborze stanowiska pracy (względem źródła światła oczywiście).
 
Pewną niedogodność stanowi fakt, że obszar po obwodzie ekranu robi się wyraźnie niedoświetlony przy zmniejszeniu jasności. Utrudnia to odczytywanie wyświetlanych treści i wywołuje u użytkownika wrażenie, że laptop nie jest w pełni funkcjonalny.

Dell stosuje w Vostro 1320 szereg procesorów, od Celerona 900 po najdroższy i najwydajniejszy Core 2 Duo T9550. W egzemplarzach, które otrzymaliśmy do testu zastosowane były dwa różne procesory - Core 2 Duo T6570 (2,1 GHz) i P8600 (2,40 GHz). Oba są efektywniejsze od wspomnianego Celerona a z ekonomicznego punktu widzenia stanowią rozsądniejszy wybór od wzmiankowanego T9550.

Zarówno C2D T6570 jak i P8600 to procesory typu Penryn, wykonane w nowoczesnym procesie 45 nm. Ten pierwszy korzysta z magistrali 800 MHz, drugi natomiast - 1066 MHz. Inna ważna różnica to zasób pamięci podręcznej drugiego poziomu - 2 MB dla T6570 i 3 MB w przypadku P8600. Warto też wiedzieć, że TDP (moc strat procesora wydzielana w postaci ciepła) wynosi dla pierwszego 35 W i 25 W dla drugiego, zaś temperatura graniczna to 100°C w przypadku T6570 i 105°C dla P8600.
 
Wyniki testów pokazują, że P8600 jest o około 20% wydajniejszy od T6570. Jeżeli weźmiemy pod uwagę, ze P8600 wydziela do tego mniej ciepła, warto dołożyć do niego, o ile różnica w cenie nie jest przesadnie wysoka.
 
Z dwóch testowanych egzemplarzy ten ze słabszym procesorem otrzymał zintegrowaną kartę graficzną Intel GMA X4500MHD, natomiast ten z szybszym był wyposażony w autonomiczny (korzystający z własnej pamięci) układ Nvidia GeForce 9300M GS. Warto pochylić się przede wszystkim nad tym drugim, który jest ponad dwukrotnie lepszy od karty Intela. Otóż Dell zastosował pamięci GDDR3, dzięki którym wspomniany GeForce uzyskuje o 15% lepsze osiągi od częściej spotykanej wersji na DDR2. Rożnica to tylko nieco ponad 300 pkt. w 3DMarku06 (karta na szynie 64-bitowej), ale zawsze to jakiś powód do satysfakcji dla posiadacza Della.

Wpływ na otoczenie

Hałas

Użytkownicy starszego modelu, Vostro 1310, narzekali na hałas powodowany przez układ chłodzenia. Nowy Vostro 1320 też nie jest laptopem cichym, trzeba to sobie powiedzieć otwarcie. Naszym zdaniem ratuje go jednak charakterystyka odgłosu pracy wentylacji - szum wyrzucanego z wnętrza komputera powietrza ma zwykle niską tonację i jest neutralny do użytkownika.
 
Model z Nvidią był nieco bardziej hałaśliwy od tego z integrą Intela. Różnica uwidoczniała się przy pracy z wybranym schematem maksymalnej wydajności oraz z obciążeniem, gdyż w trybie oszczędzania energii testowane laptopy zachowywały się prawie identycznie (wentylator odzywał się regularnie ale na krótko).
 
Oba testowane Vostro posiadały na wyposażeniu dość głośne dyski twarde Hitachi (7200 obr/min). Ich buczenie/syk może być poważną niewygodą szczególnie w nocy, ale i za dnia można je usłyszeć.  

Nieprzyjemny, metaliczny poświst dobiega z kolei od wentylatora, kiedy ten przechodzi na większą prędkość obrotową.

Ciepło

Temu elementowi poświęciliśmy dużo uwagi, gdyż testowane egzemplarze różniły się między sobą wyraźnie. Ten z kartą Nvidii rozgrzewał się mocno zarówno przy użytkowaniu na kolanach zasilany z akumulatora jak i na biurku przy obciążeniu. Ten z GMA Intela był zdecydowanie chłodniejszy i nie stwarzał problemu na zasilaniu bateryjnym i kolanach, ale przy wysokiej temperaturze otoczenia i on robił się dość ciepły przy obciążeniu.

Jeżeli chodzi o pomiary obciążeniowe, przeprowadziliśmy po dwa testy dla każdej wersji - jeden w temperaturze otoczenia 27°C a drugi przy 23,5°C.
 
Wynika z nich, że wersję z GMA Intela używa się komfortowo w temperaturze do 25 stopni Celsjusza nawet z obciążeniem - wtedy bowiem temperatura przedniej części pulpitu platformy roboczej nie przekracza 40 stopni po kilku godzinach pracy komputera. Dla wersji z Nvidią ta granica mieści się niżej, na poziomie około 21 stopni. Odpowiada to warunkom panującym w klimatyzowanym biurze.

Przestrzegamy, że GeForce 9300M GS w Vostro 1320 nagrzewa się dość drastycznie pod obciążeniem. W dwóch testach przeprowadzonych w różnych temperaturach otoczenia czujnik na karcie grafiki wskazywał maksymalnie około 100 stopni Celsjusza.

Głośniki

Głośniczek mono wytwarza niezbyt przyjemne dźwięki. Kiedy puści się przezeń muzykę, można się uprzedzić nawet do najbardziej ulubionych utworów; tak są masakrowane. Zalecane jest korzystanie ze słuchawek. Za samo posiadanie głośnika punktów nie przyznajemy, ale lepszy rydz niż nic. 

Wydajność akumulatora

W obu Vostro 1320 mieliśmy akumulator 6-komorowy, który mieści się całkiem w obrysie obudowy. Dell oferuje też do tego modelu baterię 9-komorową, która wystaje z tyłu na ponad 2 cm.
 
Akumulator o pojemności 48 Wh wystarcza obu testowanym wersjom na nieco ponad 3 h pracy przy korzystaniu z sieci przez WiFi. Wyniki są zbliżone, gdyż egzemplarz z kartą niezintegrowaną Nvidii był wyposażony w oszczędniejszy procesor (P8600). W testach z minimalnym obciążeniem model z kartą zintegrowaną osiągnął dużo lepsze wyniki.

Podsumowanie

Vostro 1320 przypadł nam do gustu przede wszystkim dzięki solidnej obudowie. W dzisiejszych realiach, kiedy przeważają w sprzedaży laptopy o mało odpornych czy połyskliwych korpusach, taka mocna konstrukcja jest jak ożywcze tchnienie. To niemal rarytas. Vostro 1320 posiada co prawda lakierowane wieko, ale trzymanie w dłoniach jednostki zasadniczej to sama przyjemność.

Mało jest laptopów z matowym ekranem 13". Vostro 1320 niestraszna praca w dobrze oświetlonym pomieszczeniu czy na słońcu, gdyż posiada tzw. matrycę półmatową, z powłoką antyrefleksową. Dobre i to.
 
Słusznie, że do wyboru są wersje z grafiką wydzieloną i zintegrowaną, bo to poszerza grono potencjalnych klientów. Nie ma między nimi dużej różnicy w długości pracy na zasilaniu z akumulatora, o ile do GPU Nvidii dobierze się procesor z sekcji P, a ta słabsza wersja posiada standardowy Core 2 Duo z sekcji T. Problemem może być jednak wysoka temperatura karty graficznej przy obciążeniu. Sto stopni Celsjusza to dużo i każe nam uprzedzać o tym problemie zainteresowanych kupnem. W wersji z integrą Intela nie ma tej bolączki, no i jest ona nieco cichsza.
