Test Toshiba Satellite A300D-126

Po rewizji swojej oferty dokonanej przez Toshibę w miejsce serii A210 pojawiła się A300D. Pod tym oznaczeniem kryją się notebooki korzystające z technologii AMD, będące mniejszą kopią P300. Również one zachowały pewne podobieństwo do poprzedniej generacji. Testowany przez nas model nie był jeszcze oparty na Pumie, gdyż (podobnie jak w roku poprzednim) producent wprowadził kolejną generację laptopów przed premierami nowych platform, by klienci mogli się do nich przyzwyczaić.

Obudowa

Bez niespodzianek. Podobnie jak to było w poprzednich generacji, tu także notebook z ekranem 15,4” jest ulepiony z tej samej gliny co większy (17”) model (P300/P305).

Stylistyka A300D jest nieco fikuśna, a na pewno oryginalna. Fanom nowoczesnego i odważnego wzornictwa może się podobać, szczególnie, że obudowa jest ciemna, a w kolorystyce mamy bardzo gustownie przejścia z szarości do czerni. Od góry do dołu praktycznie cała lśni.

Trzeba nam jednak powiedzieć, że ten trend do nabłyszczania komputerów przenośnych robi się niepokojący. Wkrótce może się okazać, że producenci kompletnie zaprzestaną wytwarzania notebooków w matowej obudowie, które nie są tak efektowne, ale na pewno bardziej praktyczne. Zdania wśród konsumentów są jednak podzielone i ci z bardziej konserwatywnym gustem mogą jakiś czas jeszcze sięgać po niepozorne laptopy nazywane biznesowymi.

Najbardziej charakterystyczne elementy na pulpicie to lakierowana klawiatura, plastikowe kratki głośników i potężne przyciski przynależące do tabliczki dotykowej i zastępujące przyciski myszy. To te elementy budzą największe kontrowersje i takie a nie inne ustosunkowanie się do nich przesądza zwykle o opowiedzeniu się za lub przeciw temu notebookowi.

Nam nie podoba się natomiast ekran mocowany na centralnym zawiasie. W A300D nie bujał się on jednak aż tak mocno jak w P300. Podczas symulowanych wstrząsów obserwowaliśmy tylko drobne dygotanie.

Większe znaczenie ma to, że obudowa matrycy nie jest specjalnie sztywna i przy wyginaniu na boki się rusza. Jednak przy otwieraniu pokrywy trzymanej za górny róg nie było żadnych problemów. Tym razem nie dał się nam we znaki problem ostrych krawędzi na obwodzie ramki (boki).

Co by nie mówić, platforma robocza jest wykonana z solidnego, naprawdę konkretnego tworzywa. Pod względem sztywności i spasowania jest, ośmielimy się twierdzić, lepsza od A200/A210. Kiedy ściska się laptop dłońmi, korpus nie trzeszczy, z jednym wyjątkiem – w prawej części, gdzie tkwi napęd optyczny, można zlokalizować pewien luzik.

Z powyższymi stwierdzeniami kłóci się fakt, że cały spód przedstawia się tak samo jak w A210. Mamy tu mianowicie taki sam bowiem układ i wyposażenie w złącza jak w poprzedniej generacji. Do naszego A300D nie zawitał port HDMI, który pojawia się w lepiej wyposażonych modelach.

Osprzęt

Klawiatura jest tym, na co trzeba zwrócić szczególną uwagę przy zaznajamianiu się z A300D. Toshiba zdecydowała się na odważny krok i postanowiła zastosować w najnowszych notebookach Satellite lakierowane instrumenty, których klawisze się błyszczą.

Taka klawiaturę można oceniać różnie, ale my nie jesteśmy do niej przekonani. Po pierwsze mianowicie jest ona podatna na szybkie , natychmiastowe wręcz brudzenie się, toteż jej pielęgnacja będzie zabierać właścicielowi sporo czasu, który można by spożytkować ciekawiej.

Klawiatura ma jednak swój urok. Przede wszystkim miła w dotyku faktura zachęca do kontaktu, a lakierowane klawisze wcale nie są oślizgłe i taka ich właściwość nie utrudnia pracy. Do tego skok klawiszy jest konkretny a nie pchełkowaty.

Co natomiast nam się najmocniej nie spodobało? Ano grzechotanie klawiszy. Instrument ugina się co prawda tylko minimalnie i w paru miejscach, ale przy szybszym pisaniu czy mocniejszym uderzaniu klawiatura robi się naprawdę głośna.

Gładzik jest ciekawostką, gdyż stanowi folię bezpośrednio naklejoną na obudowę (pod spodem prześwituje pasiasty ornament). Jest to bardzo sprytny wynalazek.

Powierzchnia tejże folii prezentuje znikomą przyczepność, skutkiem czego możliwe jest operowanie nawet mokrym czy tłustym placem (tabliczka nie zatrzymuje go w pół drogi). Można wręcz powiedzieć, że palec chodzi nawet zbyt lekko, ale po dostosowaniu się do tej właściwości korzysta się z gładzika pięknie.

Przyciski są natomiast przeciwieństwem dyskretnej płytki dotykowej i aż rażą ostentacją. Są to bowiem nieproporcjonalnie dobrane wypukłe kolosy (mierzą po 50x13 mm każdy). Przyciski są jednak cichsze niż można by się spodziewać – ich klik jest ale do przyjęcia. Z racji tego, że mają formę garbów, nie korzysta się z nich wygodnie.

Obraz

Matryca Toshiby (lustrzana, 15,4”, WXGA) prezentuje się nienadzwyczajnie. To nic dziwnego, skoro jej producentem okazał się Samsung (istnieje jednak spore prawdopodobieństwo, że Toshiba stosuje zamiennie wyświetlacze LG Display).

Kiedy przyglądaliśmy się jej pod kątem odwzorowania kolorów, stwierdziliśmy, że obraz jest w wysokim stopniu zaniebieszczony. Widać to na obszarach jasnych (szczególnie bieli i odcieniach szarości). Róż jest koloru lila. Widać niedosyt koloru żółtego. Laik jednak, szczególnie nie mający porównania z matrycą lepiej reprodukującą barwy, raczej jednak tego nie dostrzeże i będzie zadowolony. Szczególnie że zastosowanie niezintegrowanej karty graficznej przełożyło się na lepszą jakość obrazu (szczególnie w filmach HD).

Jasność obrazu nie powinna być zawodem. Średnia luminancji wyciągnięta z pomiarów przy maksymalnym podświetleniu to około 155 cd/m². Bez szaleństw, ale w granicach przyzwoitości. Parametr rozświetlenia wynosi tylko 68,1%, aczkolwiek faktycznie zauważalna nierównomierność podświetlenia nie była problemem przy użytkowaniu. Kontrast obrazu i kąty widzenia nie zachwycają, ale to norma w tej klasie notebooków.

Osiągi

Model A300D, którego testowaliśmy, wyposażony był w procesor Turion 64 X2 TL-62 taktowany z częstotliwością 2,1 GHz. Tym samym jasnym jest, że zastosowano w tym notebooku technologie Kite Refresh, a więc poprzedniczkę platformy Puma. Turion TL-62 to jeden z procesorów generacji Tyler, które wyraźnie ustępują wydajnością konkurencyjnym Core 2 Duo Intela (nie tylko Penrynom, ale i Meromom). Nie odstają one natomiast od C2D pod względem poboru mocy (czy też wydzielania ciepła).

Karta graficzna ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470, jak to się ładnie mówi, bardziej niż do gier przeznaczona jest do multimediów. Nie znaczy to, że nie można probować odpalać na niej najnowsze tytuły – wchodzi to pod rachubę, ale średnią przyjemnością jest gra przy mocno ograniczonym poziomie szczegółów i w niskiej rozdzielczości. Żeby dać pewne generalne wyobrażenie, można powiedzieć, że wydajność MR HD 3470 jest o połowę (czy nawet więcej, skoro właśnie upowszechnia się mocniejsza nowa generacja Nvidii) gorsza od kart graficznych stosowanych w notebookach z ekranem 15,4”, które polecamy do obsługi wymagających gier.

Wpływ na otocznie

Hałas

Ostatnimi czasy notebooki Toshiby średniej klasy, te przeznaczone dla użytkownika domowego, wyróżniają się nadmierną hałaśliwością. To, że A300D jest dość głośna, przyjęliśmy więc ze spokojem, jako że nie było dla nas rewelacją.

W trybie idle wentylator pracuje tak, że powoduje szum powietrza o natężeniu 35 dB – tyle co maksymalnie nowy Amilo Pa 3515 na Pumie. Przy okazji drobnej instalacji rozkręca się już do całych 39,5 dB i wówczas może być przykry dla użytkownika.

Maksymalny poziom hałasu przekracza 41 dB, a wtedy oczywiście najtrudniej go zdzierżyć i uprzykrza on czas wykonywania dłuższych prac. Kiedy komputer przestanie być obciążany (a wentylator ucichnie absolutnie) odczuwa się sporą ulgę i docenia ciszę.

Ciepło

Choć testy były przeprowadzane latem, w dość wysokiej temperaturze otoczenia (25°C) trzeba stwierdzić, że A300D z MR HD 3470 nagrzewa się nadmiernie. W lewej części, tam gdzie mieszczą się układ chłodzenia i wylot z niego, temperatura po dłuższym wysiłku przekracza bowiem 43 stopnie Celsjusza zarówno na spodzie, jak i pulpicie (co ciekawe, strona wierzchnia robi się pod obciążeniem generalnie cieplejsza od spodniej).

Nagrzewanie obudowy daje również znać o sobie (choć nie w sposób przesadnie uciążliwy) podczas lekkiej pracy, kiedy komputer spoczywa na kolanach użytkownika.

Jeżeli chodzi o strumień rozgrzanego powietrza wydostający się poprzez lewą ściankę boczną, jest on odczuwalny wyraźnie w odległości około 16 cm od komputera, kiedy zaś wiatrak rozkręca się do maksimum – nawet już na 20 cm od notebooka.

Głośniki

Głośniczki są bardzo dobre jak na laptop, a to dlatego, że pochodzą od firmy Harman Kardon. Jakość dźwięku jest więc niedościgniona dla konkurencji - głośniczki testowanego jednocześnie Amilo Pa 3515 wydawały się w zestawieniu z tymiż atrapami. Nie spodobało nam się w zasadzie tylko to, ze odrobinę podzwaniały na maksymalnej głośności.

Wydajność akumulatora

Jeżeli ktoś żywił cicha nadzieje, że kolejna generacja notebooków Satellite będzie się cechować większą niezależnością od zasilania sieciowego i poprawiona zostanie długość pracy na akumulatorze, przykro nam, ale musimy go rozczarować.

Akumulator został ten sam, co w A210, ma więc pojemność 48 (faktycznie 47) Wh. Tylko dwie i pół godziny możliwie do uzyskania z jego udziałem przy minimalnym obciążeniu i półtorej godziny na WiFi to zdecydowanie mało jak na potrzeby powiedzmy studenta, który chciałby zabierać swój notebook na uczelnię bez zasilacza. Radykalnie krótka jest praca przy znacznym obciążeniu, kiedy to komputer obywa się bez doładowania przez zaledwie trzy kwadranse.

Podsumowanie

Pod postacią Satellite A300D Toshiba zaproponowała notebook bardzo podobny do poprzednika, czyli A210. Producenta nie było stać na wyleczenie go z wad ciążących na poprzedniej generacji – i nowa Tosia jest dość hałaśliwa oraz zdecydowanie krótko chodzi na akumulatorze.

Notebook wygląda zupełnie inaczej i w opinii wielu krytyków będzie za bardzo wypacykowany, ale też może zostać uznany za wartościowy element wystroju nowoczesnego wnętrza. Z punktu widzenia praktycznego jednak lakierowanie wszystkiego, co się da, jest mało pożądane (większość powierzchni mocno się palcuje), aczkolwiek w dłuższym horyzoncie czasowym może się okazać zbawienne (kiedy powłoka nie będzie się wycierać, jak to miały w zwyczaju starsze lakiery).

Jakość wykonania (z wyjątkiem mało wytrzymałej pokrywy ekranu) jest dobra, i Toshiba może się równać z podobnymi ceną Asusami, aczkolwiek nie jest tak solidna jak na przykład Dell.

Matryca nie jest zła, choć oczywiście ma pewne braki (jak to w większości laptopów). Dzięki niezintegrowanej karcie graficznej jakość obrazu na ekranie jest lepsza niż w laptopach z układami zintegrowanymi. Co do podsystemu graficznego – aż do wprowadzenia modeli na Pumie (co się niedawno stało) producent kazał się zadowolić słabszą kartą, co przesądziło o tym, że Toshiba A300D nie była tak popularna jak chociażby A210 (w dodatku brakowało obecnego w nowych wersjach HDMI). Zobaczymy, jak sytuacja będzie się rozwijać dalej. Plusem są natomiast głośniczki przedniej marki – Harman Kardon tym razem w standardzie. Większość konkurentów oddaje tu Toshibie pole.
