Szarak bogaty wnętrzem. Jeżeli nie mamy wglądu do strategii nazewniczej firmy Comes i nie posiadamy fotograficznej pamięci wzrokowej, niekoniecznie musimy się zorientować, że Prestige 1800 to właściwie ten sam model co Smart 500. Są to notebooki niepozorne więc i my moglibyśmy się nie zorientować, gdybyśmy nie testowali ich razem. Oto zatem charakterystyka mocniejszego z nich, Prestige 1800.

Obudowa

Aristo Prestige 1800

Oparty na szkielecie Quanty notebook Prestige 1800 polskiej firmy Aristo ma dość nijaką obudowę i nie wygląda szczególnie atrakcyjnie. Z biegiem czasu jednak przyzwyczajaliśmy się do jego prostolinijności i z końcem testów nie wydawał się nam już tak brzydki jak na początku.

Testowany laptop nie wygląda dobrze z przodu, gdzie rażą tandetnie wyglądający zwalniacz zaczepu klapy i kolorowe oznaczenia gniazd audio. W niemiły sposób kontrastują one z niewątpliwie smutną, ale dość gustowną pokrywą ekranu koloru oksydowanego metalu.

Wzornictwo wewnętrznej części komputera również nie jest ciekawe. Pulpit platformy roboczej prezentuje się nader ponuro, a to przez powtórzenie tej samej barwy co na pokrywie w uzupełnieniu o czarną klawiaturę w takiej samej obwódce. Pewną odmianę wnoszą jedynie dwa srebrne knefle (w tym wyłącznik) i przyciski touchpada. Dość tandetnie i niewyraźnie przedstawia się oznaczenie stref przewijania na gładziku prostymi kreskami.

Jak wspomniano, sam szkielet notebooka Aristo powstaje w chińskich zakładach Quanty, która przoduje w produkcji laptopów na świecie. Tym samym na jakość wykonania obudowy nie można utyskiwać. Zastrzeżenia budzą tylko dość szerokie szczeliny montażowe oraz niedostatecznie ustabilizowana szufladka napędu optycznego. Platforma robocza jest zadowalająco sztywna, nigdzie nie skrzypi, ani się w szczególny sposób nie ugina. Więcej zastrzeżeń można mieć do pokrywy ekranu - wieko okazuje się w razie naduszania trochę elastycznie. Odporność klapy na wyginanie na boki jest natomiast dostateczna.

Pokrywę można swobodnie otworzyć jedną ręką i notebook nie odrywa się przy tym od podłoża. Zawiasy stawiają dostateczny opór, aczkolwiek klapa dygocze się lekko w chwilę po zmianie ustawienia oraz przy lekkich nawet wstrząsach.

Największą wadą konstrukcyjną obudowy modelu Prestige 1800 jest naszym zdaniem ograniczenie kąta rozwarcia ekranu do około 120°. Daje się ono we znaki, kiedy chcemy korzystać z komputera w niekonwencjonalnej pozycji – np. siedząc na łóżku i mając maszynę przed sobą, na tej samej powierzchni. Kąty widzenia w pionie są jednak na tyle szerokie, że przy pewnej dozie samozaparcia da radę pracować i w tej konfiguracji.

Ze względu na specyficzną formę zawiasów na tyle notebooka nie mogły się znaleźć żadne złącza. Większość z nich mieści się więc na ściankach bocznych. Największe skupisko interfejsów znajduje się na tej lewej i to o tyle nieszczęśliwie, że wyprowadzono je w przedniej części obudowy. W razie podłączenia kilku kabelków w pobliżu laptopa może powstać ich kłębowisko, które będzie utrudniało operowanie myszką, szczególnie osobom leworęcznym. Trzeba docenić fakt, że Prestige 1800 posiada wyjście DVI.

Osprzęt

Gdyby tylko dość mocno się nie uginała, klawiatura notebooka Aristo zasługiwałaby na pochwałę. Kultura pracy jest bowiem tak ukształtowana, że sprzyja komfortowej pracy. Zaletą tej klawiatury jest znikomy szczęk klawiszy. Głośniej odzywa się jedynie spacja.

Chwaliliśmy sobie układ klawiszy, jako że podczas pisania nie stwierdzaliśmy występowanie literówek. Jego wadą jest oczywiście lewy Ctrl umiejscowiony na prawo od Fn.

Touchpad jest zdecydowanie nieudany. Przede wszystkim dlatego, że powierzchnia tabliczki nie różni się niczym od okalającego ją pulpitu z wyjątkiem tego, iż położona jest w wyprofilowanym zagłębieniu. Z tego względu, szczególnie podczas pracy po ciemku, często zdarza się wyjeżdżać poza obręb przyrządu i tracić czas w daremnym oczekiwaniu na jego reakcję. Poza tym tabliczka ma dość słabą czułość, a właściwości ślizgowe również są niespecjalne.

Przyciski towarzyszące gładzikowi również nie zjednają sobie sympatii użytkownika. Ich klik jest bowiem stanowczo zbyt głośny, szczególnie przy naciskaniu obszarów zewnętrznych. Generalnie można jednak powiedzieć, że widywaliśmy jeszcze toporniejsze.

W Prestige 1800 odnajdziemy lustrzaną matrycę 15,4” WXGA firmy Chi Mei (identyczną jak w Smart 500). Jest ona stosowana w laptopach kilku innych producentów (Acer, Asus, Lenovo). Generalnie można ją pochwalić na równomierne podświetlenie i lepsze od przeciętnych kąty widzenia. Zastrzeżenia można mieć do odwzorowania barw (bardo wyraźna przewaga barw ciepłych, słabo zaznaczona obecność odcieni koloru zielonego).

Szczytowa wartość jasności maksymalnej wynosi 173,3 cd/m². Średnia zaś to 150 cd/m² i może okazać się niesatysfakcjonująca. Rozświetlenie natomiast kształtuje się na poziomie 79,6%, z czego wynika, iż ekran jest podświetlony bardzo równomiernie. Maksymalny kontrast jest niespecjalny, jako że wyraża się proporcją 217:1.

Wyświetlacz Aristo daje wyjątkowo mocne refleksy.

Osiągi

Testowany przez nas model otrzymał procesor Core 2 Duo T8100. Jest to najsłabszy przedstawiciel nowej generacji jednostek Intela, którą od roboczej nazwy nazywamy Penrynami. Rdzenie T8100 są taktowane z częstotliwością 2,1 GHz, procesor ten posiada 3 MB pamięci podręcznej drugiego poziomu i posługuje się magistralą FSB 800 MHz.

W testach syntetycznych uzyskiwał on niewiele gorsze lub wręcz minimalnie lepsze wyniki od T8300 (różniącego się szybszym o 0,3 GHz, czyli 14%, taktowaniem), natomiast w praktycznych sprawdzianach różnice między tymi procesorami były już wyraźniejsze. Kompresja pliku trwała o 8% wolniej niż w przypadku T8300, a w konwersji materiału wideo różnica wynosiła 13-15% na niekorzyść T8100.

Prestige 1800 jest wyposażony w kartę graficzną GeForce 8400M GS. Wydajny procesor podciąga ją dość wyraźnie w testach referencyjnych, natomiast w praktycznych sprawdzianach nie obserwowaliśmy godnego wzmianki wzrostu wydajności. Tak czy inaczej GF 8400M GS to układ o sporo większych możliwościach niż zintegrowana karta Intela, ale nie polecamy go osobom, którym marzy się płynność w najnowszych grach.

Hałas

Szum, jaki słyszymy od uruchomienia komputera, to świadectwo wirowania talerzy dysku. W przypadku Prestige 1800 jest on stosunkowo głośny (34,8 dB), ale z czasem przestaje się zwracać nań uwagę.

Wentylator odzywa się już przy lada obciążeniu nawet niezbyt wymagającą aplikacją. Na szczęście w trybie oszczędnym robi to sporadycznie. Przy zmuszeniu komputera do większego wysiłku wentylacja staje się dość hałaśliwa, ale jak na laptop z kartą niezintegrowaną i tak nie jest źle. Podczas gry natężenie szumu osiąga poziom 41,3 dB, natomiast przy pełnym obciążeniu procesora utrzymuje się stale hałas w wymiarze 43,7 dB.

Podczas odtwarzania płyty DVD w trybie zrównoważonym wentylator pracuje jednostajnie głośno, a słabiutkie głośniczki nie są w stanie przebić się przez ten szum. Z tego względu do projekcji filmów należy wykorzystywać tryb oszczędzania energii. Wtedy wiatraczek załącza się co jakiś czas na kilkanaście sekund – jest to dość irytujące, ale przynajmniej w interwałach można śledzić fabułę w komfortowych warunkach.

Prestige 1800 piszczał dużo ciszej niż Smart 500. Żeby usłyszeć charakterystyczne skwierczenie przetwornicy należy zbliżyć ucho do klawiatury. Problem dźwięku wysokiej częstotliwości występuje, ale nie jest uciążliwy.

Dobrze porównać posiadającego kartę zintegrowaną Smarta 500 z  Prestige 1800 z GF 8400M GS. Brzemię posiadania układu stanowiącego osobny chip uwidacznia się bowiem ewidentnie i niepodważalnie. Obudowa laptopa z katą niezintegrowaną rozgrzewa się mocniej. Szczególnie widać to na przykładzie wyników otrzymanych z pomiaru temperatur podstawy. Wartość skrajna w przypadku Prestige'a1800 jest o całe 5 stopni wyższa od analogicznej w Smarcie. Taka różnica może się wydać błahostką, ale zaręczamy, iż może się rozstrzygającą o tym, czy z danym komputerem da się można pracować, trzymając go na kolanach, czy też nie.

Praca przy znikomym obciążeniu może potrwać prawie trzy godziny (przy czym maksymalne przyciemnienie obrazu nie wyklucza w miarę komfortowego korzystania z komputera), natomiast przy utrzymywaniu łączności ze światem za pomocą WiFi da się przy zredukowanej nieco jasności osiągnąć dwie godziny pracy.

Podsumowanie

Aristo Prestige 1800 to laptop niezbyt okazały (choć po ciemku wydaje się nawet gustowny). Dość pospolity z wyglądu i nie budzący szacunku u osób postronnych. Jak to zwykle bywa w przypadku szaraczków, jego walory kryją się w środku. Nie jest to może brzydkie kaczątko okazujące się łabędziem, ale procesor T8100 z nowej generacji Penrynów stanowi wartość samą w sobie. Nasze testy pokazują wszakże, że warto dołożyć do T8300, który za niewiele większą kwotę oferuje wyraźnie lepsze osiągi.

Poza tym że posiada niezintegrowaną kartę graficzną i złącze DVI, Prestige 1800 jest praktycznie tożsamy konstrukcyjnie ze zrecenzowanym przez nas uprzednio modelem Smart 500. Ten pierwszy dzieli większość wad i zalet drugiego.

Zasadniczym mankamentem konstrukcji jest ograniczona możliwość odchylania ekranu. Poza tym można narzekać na mocne (intensywniejsze niż w Smarcie) nagrzewanie się obudowy.

Wybierając model z kartą dysponującą własną pamięcią, poświęcamy też mniej więcej godzinę pracy na akumulatorze.
