Vaio has unveiled two lightweight laptops designed for everyday use for the Japanese market, the F14 and F16.

Both laptops are powered by the latest 15-watt TDP Intel Raptor Lake mobile CPUs for long runtimes. The laptops can be configured with an Intel Core 3 100U (6C/8T), Core 5 120U (10C/12T), or Core 7 150U (10C/12T) CPU. RAM and storage can be configured from 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD up to 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD.

The F14 uses a 14-inch 1,920 x 1,080 16:9 anti-glare LCD panel while the F16 uses a 16-inch 1,920 x 1,200 16:10 anti-glare screen. An optional 2,560 x 1,600 display will be made available for the F16 at a later date. All displays can open a full 180 degrees.

The laptops utilize a 720p webcam, triple AI noise-cancelling microphones, and Dolby Atmos stereo speakers for clear video calls. The camera supports Windows Hello facial recognition and the power button supports fingerprint recognition for passwordless Windows 11 sign-in.

Both models include a wide range of ports, including two 5 Gbps USB-A 3.0, two USB-C 3.1 (DP 1.4, PD), one HDMI, and one 1000BASE-T Ethernet port. Headphones can be connected using the 3.5 mm headphone jack, and only the F16 has an SD card slot. The Vaios support wireless communication over Bluetooth 5.3 and 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6E.

The F16 weighs 1.59 kg (3.5 lbs.) and the F14 weighs 1.23 kg (2.7 lbs.) thanks to a lightweight aluminum body. Both models undergo rigorous in-house testing to ensure durability and a long lifespan. The F16 battery has a runtime of 6.0 hours, and the F14 has a runtime of 7.7 hours (JEITA Measurement Method 3.0 when playing videos). The batteries recharge fully in 3.0 hours.

The laptops have an approximate price range between 144,800 yen (~$1,000) to 267,800 yen (~$1,800) depending on configuration. Readers outside Japan will have to import the Vaio F14 and F16, or settle for one of the other Vaio laptops listed at the Vaio store on Amazon US or Vaio US.
