Test Acer Aspire 5551G

Acer Aspire 5551G z trzyrdzeniowym procesorem AMD Phenom to nie tylko osobliwość, ale też komputer, który może zamieszać w segmencie multimedialnych laptopów do pracy i rozrywki poniżej 2,5 tys. zł. Z tego powodu zdecydowaliśmy się go zrecenzować, kiedy tylko stał się dostępny.

Ostatnie edycje platform notebookowych AMD nie umywały się do rozwiązań Intela. Najnowsza jest kolejną próbą odzyskania choć części segmentu komputerów przenośnych. Acer, który najlepiej chyba odpowiada na zapotrzebowanie rynkowe, zdecydował się oferować wśród notebooków uniwersalnych z ekranem 15,6" serie modeli z procesorami Intela i AMD (Aspire 5741G i 5551G), co już powinno nam powiedzieć coś niecoś o potencjale platformy Danube. Przekonajmy się zatem czy tytułowy laptop jest wart uwagi.

Obudowa

Acer Aspire 5551G-N832G50MNSK

Nowy Acer ma obudowę kompletnie zmienioną względem poprzedniej generacji (do której zaliczał się 5740G). W wystroju jest on podobny do modeli z serii TimelineX 5820.
 
Dekiel tego laptopa jest srebrny, matowy i urozmaicony imitującym plecionkę wzorkiem tworzącym delikatnie chropowatą fakturę. Ocena tego elementu jest pozytywna, bo nie brudzi się od palców i nadaje urządzeniu elegancki wygląd. Minusem jest mocne uginanie się na środku – wygląda na to, że to taka sobie ochrona dla matrycy.
 
Podniesienie pokrywy otwiera widok na niewysublimowaną platformę roboczą. Ukazują się też idealnie lustrzana matryca i czarna, połyskliwa, zbierająca ślady palców ramka ekranu.  
 
Na pulpicie roboczym mamy: podkładkę pod nadgarstki z tworzywa imitującego aluminium, klawiaturę z klawiszami o typowym dla Acera kroju i osłoną przed wnikaniem zanieczyszczeń wgłąb oraz panel z podświetlanym wyłącznikiem i dwiema kontrolkami, za którym kryją się głośniki.
 
Platforma robocza jest solidniejsza niż w Aspire 5740G, gdyż nie skrzypi pod ciężarem dłoni, kiedy laptop spoczywa na biurku. W zagłębieniu między lamówką platformy roboczej a elementem imitującym aluminium będą zbierać się trudne do usunięcia paprochy.
 
Wtyczka zasilania ciężko wchodzi do gniazda, które najwidoczniej jest zbyt wąskie. Do tego nie trzyma się ona w tym gnieździe szczególnie stabilnie - kiedy porusza się przewodem zasilania, chodzi ona na wszystkie strony, ale nie wyskakuje z gniazda.
 
Denerwującym rozwiązaniem spotykanym w laptopach Acera jest to, że kontrolka WLAN z lewej strony (przy okrągłym przycisku zasilania) miga, kiedy następuje transfer danych podczas korzystania z internetu, i rzuca się w oczy częściej od sąsiadującej błękitnej kontrolki dysku.  
 
Wyposażenie w złącza nie jest mocną stroną najnowszych uniwersalnych noteooków Acera. W porównaniu z modelami konkurencyjnych marek brak w nich ExpressCard, eSATA i FireWire. To poważne uszczuplenie możliwości zwiększenia funkcjonalności laptopa, ale widocznie pozwala obniżyć jego cenę. Rozmieszczenie złączy to kolejny problem i też włąściwy wielu Acerom – umieszczenie większości interfejsów na lewej ściance bocznej i dwa porty USB przy samej przedniej krawędzi na prawym boku to już klasyka tej marki. Szkoda, bo cierpi na tym ergonomia Aspire 5551G.

Klawiatura Aspire 5551G jest typowa dla najnowszych notebooków Acera. Nie wyróżnia się więc specjalnie pozytywnie, ale też nie odrzuca od tego laptopa. To przeciętne urządzenie, ale Acer nie ma się czym chwalić. Nie przeszkadzała nam ona podczas korzystania z tego laptopa, co świadczyłoby o tym, że i posiadacz nie odczuje większych komplikacji z jej powodu.   

Rozmieszczenie klawiszy jest sensowne, a wielkość płytek - odpowiednia. Klawiatura zajmuje bowiem całą szerokość pulpitu roboczego. Dzięki temu możliwe było włączenie do niej pełnoformatowego bloku numerycznego. Niestety, na walorach użytkowych klawiatury ciążą małe strzałki.   
 
Inne mankamenty, ale niezbyt uciążliwe, to dość głośna praca klawiszy oraz wyraźne (choć nieszkodliwe) uginanie się klawiatury.
 
Sporym felerem jest natomiast inna cecha, którą warto zaakcentować – płaskie płytki są mianowicie nader cienkie i mało stabilne, więc naciśnięcie klawisza niecentralnie powoduje jego lekki przechył w określoną stronę. Ta niedogodność ma chyba największy wpływ na pogorszenie płynności i bezbłędności pisania.  

Tradycyjnie, jak przystało na laptop Acera, napotkaliśmy liczne niedziałające kombinacje trzech klawiszy. Są to:

  • strzałki lewo i góra + spacja, prawy shift, SDGHZVBM (m.in.);
  • strzałki dół i lewo + enter, backspace, plus;
  • strzałki dół i prawo + 1, 3, minus, QTUPJZVB, spacja, prawy alt, prawy ctrl;
  • AW + tab, X;
  • SD + F2-F5, 234, QWEZXC;
  • strzałki dół i prawo z bloku numerycznego + tylda, 24570, plus, backspace, IOZVB, lewy ctrl, spacja, prawy alt.

Płytka dotykowa ma wymiary 80x47 mm. Na gładzik Synaptics nie można narzekać. Tabliczka ma powierzchnię o dobrym ślizgu i nie ma problemu z przesuwaniem po niej palca. Nawet podczas upałów (przy wysokiej temperaturze otoczenia) nie występowało opóźnianie ruchów kursora poprzez hamowanie ruchów palca.

Przyciski gładzika nie należą do najcichszych, ale i nie są fatalne. To ze względu na duży stawiany opór (są „twarde”) i krótki skok.

Aspire 5551G posiada matrycę 15,6” o rozdzielczości 1366x768 pikseli (HD Ready) i błyszczącej powierzchni. Wyprodukowała ją firma LG Display (w modelach z tej serii stosowana jest też matryca AUO, która była zamontowana w egzemplarzu przetestowanym przez naszych kolegów z Austrii).

Jak to zwykle w laptopach Acer bywa, matryca nie wyróżnia się na korzyść. Wszystkie jej cechy są dość przeciętne. Nie  zaobserwowaliśmy jednak żadnych negatywnych zjawisk z nią związanych – wyświetla po prostu obraz średniej jakości i dla użytkownika o niewygórowanych wymaganiach będzie wystarczająca.

Maksymalna jasność obrazu lokuje się nawet nieco poniżej przeciętnej. Jej najwyższa wartość to niespełna 190 cd/m², a średnia – tylko 162,1 cd/m². Stąd obraz może się wydawać ciemny, kiedy pracuje się w mocniej oświetlonym pomieszczeniu. Mimo niskiej rozdzielczości nie narzekaliśmy na ostrość obrazu.

Odwzorowanie kolorów jest takie sobie. Są one dość blade i przytłumione. Barwa biała natomiast wydała się nam ładna mimo relatywnie słabej siły podświetlenia. Kolor czarny, tak jak na ekranach większości innych laptopów, to różne odcienie szarości.
 
Kąty widzenia w pionie są wąskie, co widać na zdjęciach poniżej oraz w historyjce obrazkowej z prawej strony. I pod tym względem Aspire 5551G wypada jak wiele innych laptopów, w tym testowany równolegle Asus N73JN.

Osiągi

W serii Aspire 5551G stosowane są procesory AMD nowej generacji, przynależące do platformy Danube. Na testy otrzymaliśmy mocniejszą wersję, z trzyrdzeniową jednostką Phenom II X3 N830 taktowaną zegarem 2,1 GHz.
 
Pierwsze testy wskazywały, że jednostka ta prezentuje osiągi porównywalne z nowymi Core i3 Intela. Dobrze by to o niej świadczyło, gdyż Core i3 to wydajne procesory, ale z drugiej strony nie byłoby powodem do dumy dla AMD, bo przecież w aktualnej ofercie Intela Core i3 lokują się na samym dole drabinki standardowych procesorów.  

Sami przeprowadziliśmy szereg testów porównujących wydajność Phenoma N830 z Core i5-450M z notebooka Asus N73JN. Wykazały one że procesor AMD wyraźnie ustępuje jednostce Intela. Wyniki zestawiono w załączonej tabelce.  

Mimo że ustępuje wspomnianemu Core i5 i w tym obszarze zastosowań, trzyrdzeniowy Phenom N830 wydaje się procesorem przeznaczonym raczej dla osób zajmujących się obróbką grafiki czy filmów. Do laptopa rozrywkowego lepszy mógłby być dwurdzeniowy ale wyżej taktowany Turion N530 lub Phenom N620 – to jednostki o zbliżonej wydajności ogólnej, a prawdopodobnie osiągające niższe temperatury.    

Potencjał Aspire 5551G w sferze grafiki 3D jest stosunkowo duży dzięki zastosowaniu karty ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650. To jeden z kilku układów, które są godne polecenia w laptopach kosztujących około 2,5 tys. zł (zdarza się, że można go znaleźć nawet w modelach poniżej 2 tys. zł, co nie oznacza, że to słaba karta). Wydajnościowo wypada nieco lepiej od poprzednika, czyli HD 4650, oraz głównego konkurenta ze strony Nvidii, tj. GeForce'a GT 330M. Jest porównywalny z zyskującym obecnie większą popularność GeForce'em GT 335M.

W laptopie Acera częstotliwość taktowania rdzenia karty graficznej wynosi 550 MHz (jak i winnych modelach tej marki), czyli jest wyższa niż w HP Envy 14, Sony Vaio EB i Toshibach a niższa niż w Compalu NBLB2.

Wpływ na otoczenie

Hałas

W początkowym okresie użytkowania Acer 5551G przypomina pod względem emitowanego hałasu Samsunga R580. Szum stale towarzyszy użytkownikowi podczas pracy na tym laptopie. Być może w głośniejszym otoczeniu (na mieście, w biurze, w podróży) go nie słychać, ale w cichym (czytelnia, dom w nocy) da się zaobserwować, że cicho ale nieprzerwanie szumi. Ten szum jest jednak na tyle nikły, że trudno wychwycić, że wentylator wchodzi na wyższe obroty (co zdarza się przy znikomym obciążeniu). 
 
Choć nie mogliśmy tego sprawdzić, nie wykluczamy, iż Aspire 5551G potrafi być jeszcze cichszy w temperaturze otoczenia poniżej 20°C, kiedy to CPU ma niższą temperaturę, a nie w granicach 50-55°C jak przy 25°C, a GPU niższą niż 50°C notowana w tych warunkach. 
 
Długo nie słyszeliśmy piszczenia cewek charakterystycznego dla platformy Intela, ale po pewnym czasie zorientowaliśmy się, że Aspire 5551G nie jest wcale wolny od tego problemu pomimo zastosowania podzespołów AMD.

Ciepło

Najnowsze modele z serii Acer Aspire, które mają smukłe obudowy, są niestety podatne na silne nagrzewanie korpusu. To, co obserwowaliśmy w przypadku AS5820TG, powtórzyło się w AS5551G. Tyle tylko, że tu nagrzewanie o podobnej intensywności obserwowaliśmy w wyższej o kilka stopni temperaturze otoczenia. W dodatku zastosowany procesor AMD był trzy- a nie dwurdzeniowy i przy obciążeniu osiągał wysokie temperatury.

Podczas korzystania z aplikacji nieobciążających procesor temperatury nie stanowią problemu i można komfortowo używać laptop trzymany na kolanach, nawet gdy w pomieszczeniu jest ciepło. Jedynie w okolicy tabliczki dotykowej i miejsca podparcia prawej ręki można odczuć podwyższoną temperaturę.
 
Maksymalne temperatury, jakie zarejestrowaliśmy po godzinnym ekstremalnym obciążaniu podzespołów to 50,4°C na wierzchu i aż 57,4°C na spodzie jednostki zasadniczej. Przy godzinnym symulowaniu gry komputerowej sytuacja nie była aż tak poważna – skrajne wartości maksymalne wyniosły 46°C na pulpicie roboczym i 47,7°C na spodzie.

Głośniki

Acer 5551G nie wyróżnia się swoimi głośnikami ani na plus, ani in minus. W laptopie multimedialnym można by jednak oczekiwać nieco lepszych. Być może trudno w to uwierzyć, ale testowany jednocześnie netbook HP Mini 5102 wykazał się dużo lepszym dźwiękiem z wbudowanych głośników. Przede wszystkim za sprawą barwy dźwięku i ładniej reprodukowanych tonów wysokich, bo głośność maksymalna była tylko odrobinę lepsza niż w Aspire 5551G. 

Wydajność akumulatora

Standardowy dla laptopa marki Acer z ekranem 15,6” akumulator o pojemności 48 Wh (4400 mAh) nie pozwala robić sobie nadziei na długie czasy pracy. Brakuje opcji przełączania grafiki na zintegrowaną obecnej w modelach 5820TG i 5745G.
 
Niemniej jednak przebiegi 5551G będą zadowalające dla wielu użytkowników. I tak podczas korzystania z internetu przez WiFi 2,5 h to sporo czasu (nie upływa w mig jak np. 1,5 h, na które stać modele z procesorem czterordzeniowym, wydajna grafiką czy dużą matrycą). Przy oszczędnym korzystaniu z możliwości komputera można nawet pracować 3,5 h na jednym ładowaniu (np. przeglądając zgromadzone wcześniej dokumenty) – przy ustawionym minimalnym podświetleniu obraz jest dość jasny, by korzystać z komputera bez przemęczania oczu.

No i udało się. Nareszcie technologia AMD na tyle zbliżyła się do rozwiązań Intela pod względem osiągów, że można łaskawszym okiem spoglądać na laptopy z najnowszymi procesorami tej firmy.
 
Aspire 5551G to model, na który warto zwrócić uwagę przy szukaniu taniego laptopa o uniwersalnym przeznaczeniu. Trzyrdzeniowy procesor Phenom II ustępuje co prawda wydajnością jednostkom Core i5 Intela, ale dorównuje Core i3 – a właśnie z notebookom z takimi procesorami konkuruje cenowo. Dzięki zastosowaniu układu ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 Acer jest zaś bezkonkurencyjny (jeżeli nie wspominać o innych modelach tej marki) w swojej klasie w sferze grafiki 3D.

Malkontentów, którzy krzywo patrzą na komputer marki Acer (jeszcze kilka lat temu będącej synonimem tandety) zaskoczy obudowa. Matowa, o praktycznej i miłej w dotyku fakturze, stanowi ona o dużej funkcjonalności tego komputera. Co więcej, jest zadowalająco solidna (wypada pod tym względem lepiej niż obudowa serii 5740G).  
 
Nie tak dobrze wypada klawiatura. Klawisze są chybotliwe oraz płaskie, co przeszkadza w wygodnym i płynnym ich naciskaniu.
 
Chociaż 5551G jest laptopem o umiarkowanej czy wręcz niskiej emisji hałasu. Wykazuje się za to niestety silnym nagrzewaniem obudowy. Martwią też wysokie temperatury procesora.
