Test Packard Bell EasyNote LM86

Jakby mało było tego, że Acer oferuje wiele modeli w ramach jednej serii notebooków, to na dodatek od niedawna w ramach marki Packard Bell wypuszcza na naszym rynku laptopy o konfiguracjach pokrywających się z tymi pierwszymi, a więc niejako uprawia wewnętrzną konkurencję. Przypomina to trochę politykę koncernu Volkswagen na rynku motoryzacyjnym. Czy zatem użytkownicy komputerów przenośnych przesiądą się masowo z Acerów na PB? Model LM86 zebrał w naszym teście dobre noty.

Obudowa

Packard Bell EasyNote LM86

Przy recenzji poprzedniego Packard Bella pisałem o budowaniu wizerunku marki przy pomocy ujednoliconej konstrukcji obudowy. O ile jest prowadzona z umiarem, to dobra polityka, niemniej jednak nie można dopuścić, by klient był zbyt znużony jednostajną stylistyką. Z tego powodu Packard Bell dla swoich najnowszych produktów zaprojektował nowy wygląd.  
 
Pod względem stylistyki nowa oprawa jest bardzo interesująco dobrana. Z jednej strony przypomina produkty pryncypała PB, czyli Acera, z drugiej zaś zawarto w niej cechy przynależne Packardowi.

Dięki podobnemu profilowaniu i niemal identycznym zawiasom pokrywa ekranu d przypomina tę znaną z Acera AS7740G. Ma jednak nad nią ogromną przewagę, a mianowicie posiada aksamitną w dotyku, zupełnie odporną na zabrudzenia, matową powierzchnię zewnętrzną, której (w testowanym egzemplarzu) nadano srebrno-szarą barwę (PB stosuje także inne kolory obudów), uzupełnioną popularnym wzorkiem falujących linii. Końcowym elementem wystroju tej strony klapy jest tabliczka z wytłoczonym logo producenta.  

Druga część obudowy wyświetlacza jest bardziej typowa. Jej czarna, błyszcząca powierzchnia dobrze komponuje się ze srebrnymi zawiasami i czarnym pulpitem. Niestety, jej właściwością jest zbierenie odcisków palców.

Pozytywną cechą osłony panelu LCD jest jej zadowalająca sztywność. W czasie podnoszenia i opuszczania ekranu ugięcia klapy były znikome jak na tak cienką i dużą powierzchnię. Do gustu przypadła mi także wytrzymałość plastiku, który mimo silniejszego nacisku ochronił wyświetlacz przed zakłóceniami.

Kolejną pozytywną cechą obudowy jest niezła sztywność jednostki zasadniczej, która poza delikatniejszym obszarem okolic napędu optycznego nie poddaje się odkształceniom.  

Powierzchnia robocza jednostki zasadniczej jest wykonana zasadniczo z trzech elementów. Pierwszy stanowi czarna błyszcząca obudowa. Drugim jest matowa klawiatura z umieszczoną za nią maskownicą głośników i lustrzaną listewką wyposażoną w kontrolkę dysku, diodę Wi-Fi oraz przycisk zasilania. Trzeci element to matowa plastikowa podkładka pod ręce o fakturze przypominającej w dotyku atłas. Podnadgarstnik (podobnie jak zewnętrzna strona obudowy matrycy) został wykonany w kolorze srebrno-szarym i urozmaicony wzorkiem z przeplatających się falistych linii.  

Rozmieszczenie portów oraz ich liczba absolutnie nie rozpieszczają. Wprost przeciwnie - lokalizacja złączy jest jednym większych minusów testowanego notebooka. Producent oddał do dyspozycji użytkownika 3 porty USB. Umieścił je jednak zbyt blisko przedniej ścianki, by były wygodne w wykorzystaniu (dla posiadacza myszki). Kiepskie rozmieszczenie USB jest tym bardziej dotkliwe, że laptop nie został wyposażony ani w złącze eSATA, ani FireWire, ani nawet ExpressCard.

Osprzęt

Klawiatura, która znalazła się na wyposażeniu PB LM86, jest urządzeniem znanym z komputerów Acera. Pod względem układu klawiszy z identycznym modelem miałem do czynienia podczas recenzowania modelu AS7740G. Jedyną różnicę między wcześniej wspomnianym urządzeniem wejścia a nową konstrukcją PB stanowią dodatkowe funkcje przypisane do czterech klawiszy znajdujących się nad blokiem numerycznym.

Pod względem wielkości płytek klawiatura dostosowana jest bardziej od zastosowań biurowych, niźli dla użytkownika domowego lubiącego czerpać przyjemność z wirtualnej rozrywki. Miniaturowe powierzchnie ściśniętych na niewielkiej przestrzeni klawiszy kierunkowych będą dla przeciętnych męskich palców zwyczajnie niewygodne. Przyjemny w użyciu i bardzo pożyteczny okazuje się natomiast blok numeryczny, który dzięki pełnowymiarowej wielkości oraz harmonijnemu rozplanowaniu klawiszy zyska sobie uznanie wszystkich użytkowników pracujących z arkuszami kalkulacyjnymi.

Sztywność klawiatury nie jest najwyższych lotów. Przy silniejszym nacisku mogą się zdarzyć pewne ugięcia, ale nie wpływają one w większym stopniu na komfort pracy. Wpływa nań natomiast bardzo pozytywnie matowa powierzchnia płytek, dzięki której pomimo braku profilowania palce nie ślizgają się po powierzchni klawiszy, co daje możliwość szybkiego pisania i uwalnia użytkownika od zbyt częstego obowiązku glancowania klawiatury.

Z reguły w Acerach i Packard Bellach gładzik znajdował się w zagłębieniu bądź był odpowiednio zaznaczony. W LM86 postanowiono wprowadzić nieco inne rozwiązanie. Za funkcję gładzika odpowiada częściowo wyznaczony obszar podkładki pod ręce. Niestety, przy projektowaniu nowego urządzenia producent zapomniał, czym powinien charakteryzować się wygodny gładzik i poza ograniczeniami bocznymi nie wyznaczył góry i dołu przestrzeni czułej na dotyk. Chociaż sama powierzchnia jest bardzo przyjemna w dotyku i nie powoduje żadnego podrażnienia opuszek palców, to kilkukrotne zjechanie z jej obszaru może początkowo rozdrażnić użytkownika i wymaga pewnego przyzwyczajenia.

Nie mam natomiast nic do zarzucenia samej czułości tafli dotykowej, która jest dość dobrze dobrana do rozdzielczości natywnej matrycy i pozwala na całkiem sprawne przesuwanie wskaźnika. Kilka milimetrów przed przestrzenią czułą na dotyk umieszczono standardową listwę z przyciskami. Przyciski chodzą ze średnim oporem i cechują się przeciętnie głośnym klikiem, dzięki czemu są całkiem przyjazne dla użytkownika.

Obraz

Recenzowany Packard Bell został wyposażony w matrycę produkcji Samsunga oznaczoną symbolem 173KT01-A01. Generuje ona obraz o proporcjach 16 na 9, rozdzielczość natywna równa się 1600x900, a przekątna wyświetlacza wynosi 17,3 cala. Ekran wykonano w technologii lustrzanej, co pomimo braku wygody dla użytkownika jest standardem dla większości laptopów multimedialnych.

Panel LCD cechuje się dość wysoką jasnością, której maksimum zaledwie w jednym kwadracie minimalnie spada poniżej 200 cd/m². Satysfakcję z wysokiej luminancji psuje jednak niezbyt wyraźna głębia czerni, która osiąga aż 2,65 cd/m².

Odwzorowanie kolorów nie urzeka, ale i nie jest złe. W przypadku koloru zielonego mieści się w granicach normy, a czerwony delikatnie odbiega od ideału. Nieco inaczej wygląda natomiast kwestia koloru niebieskiego, którego natężenie jest dużo wyższe od przewidywanego.

Niewątpliwym plusem recenzowanego ekranu są natomiast kąty widzenia, które jak na jednostkę mobilną są całkiem dobre i zapewniają możliwość obserwacji ekranu kilku widzom na raz. Przy większej grupie obserwatorów trzeba jednakże pamiętać, że jak w niemal wszystkich tego typu wyświetlaczach kąty widzenia w pionie są nieco słabsze od tych w poziomie.

Osiągi

Zainstalowane podzespoły w postaci procesora Core i5-430M i karty graficznej ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 są dziś niejako standardem dla notebooków przewidzianych dla klienta oczekującego średniej wydajności w umiarkowanej cenie.

Procesor i5-430M jest jednostką, wypełniającą lukę pomiędzy procesorami i3 a procesorami i5-5xx. Nominalnym taktowaniem tego CPU jest 2,26 GHz - identyczne posiada najsilniejszy dotąd przedstawiciel serii i3, czyli i3-350M. Oba procesory wykonane są w technologii 32 nm i cechują się TDP na poziomie 35W. Zasadniczą jednak przewagą i5-430M nad i3-350M jest możliwość podniesienia taktowania do 2,53 GHz za sprawą technologii Turbo boost.  

W stosunku do silniejszych i5 (np. i5-540M) w omawianym procesoreze brakuje technologii Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d), Intel Trusted Execution Technology oraz zestawu instrukcji AES. Warto także wspomnieć, że maksymalna prędkość i5-430M uzyskiwana dzięki Turboo Boost (2,53 GHz) jest bazową częstotliwością taktowania dla i5-540M.

Karta grafiki ATI MR HD 5650 to pod względem wydajności typowy przedstawiciel średniej klasy średniej. Wyprodukowano ją w technologii 40 nm i wyposażono w 1 GB własnej pamięci DDR3. Rdzeń taktowany jest z częstotliwością 550 MHz, a pamięci pracują z szybkością 800 MHz. Oparta na magistrali 128-bitowej karta zapewnia na chwilę obecną możliwość zagrania w większość tytułów, o ile zrezygnujemy z najwyższych ustawień oraz AA.

Hałas

Układ chłodzenia w PB LM86 pracuje z dużą dozą dostojeństwa. Wentylator ogranicza swoje obroty, dzięki czemu laptop ten jest maszyną zadziwiająco cichą. 
 
Podczas pracy bez obciążenia użytkownik często będzie miał przyjemność zażywać kojącej ciszy rozpraszanej jedynie przez uspokajający szmer dysku twardego. Włączający się co jakiś czas wentylator pozostanie bardzo cichy dopóty, dopóki nie zechcemy dać podzespołom jakiegoś rzeczywistego obciążenia. Odrobinę głośniejszej pracy możemy spodziewać się w przypadku wymagających obliczeń. Pracując na wyższych obrotach, wentylator osiąga pułap emisji hałasu na poziomie 35,5 do 38,8 dB, co aktualnie i w porównaniu do konkurencji jest bardzo satysfakcjonującym wynikiem. 
 
Na całość pozytywnego wrażenia w zakresie kultury pracy niewątpliwy wpływ ma także napęd optyczny. Podczas odtwarzania filmu emitował on szum na poziomie 35,5 dB, a podczas krótkotrwałych problemów z odczytem jego hałas nie przekroczył 43 dB.

Ciepło

LM86 z początku wydawał się notebookiem stosunkowo chłodnym i takim w zasadzie jest, ale jedynie podczas pracy bez obciążenia. Wtedy temperatury obudowy nie przekraczają 30°C od strony podłoża i 31°C od strony wierzchniej. Podczas testu obciążeniowego przez większość czasu obudowa była ciepła, ale cały czas nie gorąca (~35°C). Idylla zakończyła się wraz z przestawieniem laptopa na inny stolik. Niewielka zmiana pozycji w poziomie zaowocowała drastycznym skokiem temperatury grafiki, co znalazło swoje odzwierciedlenie w wynikach termiki obudowy, która w okolicy wylotu układu chłodzenia rozgrzała się do blisko 57°C.

Głośniki

Dwa dwuwatowe głośniki nie są niestety tak dobre jak we wcześniej recenzowanym LJ75. Ich maksymalna głośność jest niezbyt wysoka, nawet jak na głośniczki instalowane w laptopach. W specyfikacji technicznej producent napomyka o technologii „Dolby Sound Room” i może coś w tym jest, choć niekoniecznie to, co dział marketingu miał na myśli. Muzyka nie ma głębi i zdaje się być odrobinę stłumiona, jakby zanim ją usłyszymy musiała po drodze przeniknąć przez ściany z innego pokoju.

Wydajność akumulatora

Packard Bell LM86 posiada na wyposażeniu akumulator o  standardowej w notebookach z koncernu Acera pojemności 4400 mAh (48 Wh). Tymi samymi wartościami cechuje się choćby bateria wspomnianego wcześniej AS7740G. Mimo to notebook marki Packard Bell   spisał się lepiej niż sprzęt ze znaczkiem  Acer.  
 
Podczas testu czytelnika wewnętrzne źródło prądu podtrzymywało aktywność laptopa przez ponad trzy i pół godziny, a blisko dwie godziny i dziesięć minut LM86 umożliwiał korzystanie z sieci przy wykorzystaniu modułu Wi-Fi. Bateria pozwoliła na obejrzenie pełnometrażowego filmu, zasilając maszynę przez godzinę i czterdzieści trzy minuty.

Podsumowanie

Wypuszczając na rynek model LM86, należący do koncernu Acera Packard Bell stworzył poważną konkurencję dla laptopa z głównego pnia firmy, tj. Aspire 7740G. 

Za przyzwoitą cenę przyszły właściciel otrzymuje maszynę o przyjemniej w dotyku obudowie i dość solidnej konstrukcji. Komputer cechujący się (przy niezłej wydajności podzespołów) świetną kulturą pracy w zakresie emitowanego hałasu. Niewątpliwym atutem LM86 jest także jasna matryca o dobrych kątach widzenia. 

W ramach minusów nie można jednak zapomnieć o takich cechach jak brak portów eSATA i ExpressCard oraz  miniaturowe klawisze kierunkowe. Trzeba także pamiętać, iż PB LM86 nie został zaprojektowany z myślą o melomanach i ma słabe głośniki.
