Test Packard Bell EasyNote MH35

Miraż? Be. Niniejszy artykuł jest zwiastunem dłuższej serii recenzji laptopów marki Packard Bell. EasyNote MH35 to model dla użytkownika o skromnych wymaganiach, który nie potrzebuje wydajnej karty graficznej. W notebooku tym wykorzystano bowiem układ SiS Mirage 3, który nie cieszy się dobrą renomą.

Obudowa

Na wstępie należy zwrócić uwagę na niewielkie gabaryty omawianego laptopa. Kiedy podniesie się klapę, może się wydawać, że to komputer z mniejszym ekranem, 14,1”. Dane katalogowe mówią jednak, że gabaryty są co najwyżej o milimetry mniejsze niż standardowe wymiary notebooka z matrycą 15,4”. W każdym razie sprzęt ten jest lekki jak na swoją kategorię wielkościową, gdyż z akumulatorem waży 2,53 kg.

Obudowa zaskoczyła nas swoją solidnością – być może wzięła się ona stąd, że konstrukcja komputera jest dość prosta i nie ma wielu elementów, których łączenie mogłoby nadwerężyć jej spójność.

Notebook PB można więc spokojnie podnosić za narożnik czy część przednią obudowy z uchwytem w jednym miejscu, bez obaw o chrzęszczenie i uginania się tworzywa. Spód notebooka jest zadowalająco twardy(prawie jak skała).

Ugina się ździebko pokrywa ekranu, ale to nic szczególnie zdrożnego – zdarzały się nam modele znacznie bardziej wrażliwe na naduszanie w tym miejscu.

Co bardzo pozytywne, wieko się nie palcuje, choć ma gładką powierzchnię. Pulpit ma identyczną fakturę, ale tam ślady po palcach znać wyraźniej i utrzymują się one dłużej – widać je najlepiej przy sztucznym oświetleniu lub pod światło.

Zawiasy działają bardzo dobrze, choć z początku będzie denerwować fakt, że przy otwieraniu trzeba przytrzymać dłonią platformę roboczą, która ma tendencję do wędrowania do góry, by notek się nie fajtnął. Stabilizują one wyświetlacz jak należy w każdej pozycji w przedziale 180 stopni. Drgania obserwowane przy zmianie ustawienia czy wstrząsach są na tyle nikłe, że można je pominąć.

Kiedy poruszamy lub otwieramy ekran, trzymając jego narożnik, rozlega się ciche skrzypienie, a panel wykrzywia się zauważalnie, choć nie w stopniu alarmującym. Dla świętego spokoju jednak lepiej tego nie robić i chwytać za środek krawędzi wyświetlacza.

Osprzęt

Choć platforma robocza jest w sumie niewielka, zmieszczono na niej klawiaturą z dodatkowym blokiem numerycznym. Zajmuje ona całą dostępną szerokość pulpitu. Jej układ i wielkość klawiszy nie są złe. Rażą może maciupki lewy Shift i brak prawego Ctrl (w tym miejscu umieszczony został Del). Pociechą będzie duży Enter - gruby i dwukondygnacyjny.

Klawiatura ugina się lekko tylko na górnym fragmencie styku bloków zasadniczego i numerycznego, więc jest dobrze umocowana na stelażu.  

Klawisze stawiają dość mocny opór (są twarde), ale ta cecha nie przeszkadza w pracy. Niektórzy użytkownicy lubią zresztą takie konkretne klawiatury, więc ci akurat będą usatysfakcjonowani. Akustyka nie przeszkadza, gdyż klik nie jest przesadnie głośny. Podczas pisania nie ma potrzeby wyłączania touchpada, a to ze względu na jego formę.

No właśnie – gładzik ma kształt koła, niezbyt dużej powierzchni zresztą. Na nasz gust cechują go jako takie właściwości ślizgowe.

Gładzikowi towarzyszą dwa klikacze, które są najsłabszym punktem tego wskaźnika. Nie dość, że malutkie, to popuszczają, kiedy nie dociśnie się ich wystarczająco mocno, wskutek czego przy przewijaniu czy zaznaczaniu dłuższego tekstu nagle ucieka nam żądany skutek. Jest to skrajnie irytujące i tym łatwiej przychodzi, że trzeba je traktować z całą bezwzględnością. Takie zachowanie może jednak prowadzić do szybkiego zdezelowania przyrządu, stąd lepiej uciec się do stosowania zewnętrznej myszy.

PB MH35 otrzymał standardową lustrzaną matrycę o przekątnej 15,4" i maksymalnej rozdzielczości 1280x800 pikseli (WXGA). Nie wyróżniła się ona ani żadnymi wyjątkowymi walorami, a nasze oględziny nie wykazały też rażących niedoskonałości. Ot, typowy średniak.

Jasność obrazu wydawała nam się zadowalająca, jednak wyniki pomiarów wykazały, że kształtuje się ona na poziomie nieco niższym od aktualnej normy. Szczytowa wartość luminancji wyniosła 181,7 cd/m², a jej średnia przy ustawieniu maksymalnej jasności to nieco ponad 160 cd/m². Rozświetlenie w wymiarze 81,9% świadczy o tym, że obraz jest jednorodny i na ekranie nie doszukamy się jaśniejszych i ciemniejszych plam. Kontrast z kolei jest dosyć, dosyć, gdyż wyraża się proporcją 234:1.

Osiągi

Zastosowany w testowanym modelu procesor to Intel Pentium Dual Core T2330 (1,6 GHz). Jest to standardowy ostatnio procesor dla notebooków za około 2 tys. zł i mniej, to jest tych na tzw. każdą kieszeń.  Nie jest to jednostka o jakichś wybitnych osiągach, ale do nieskomplikowanych zastosowań domowych czy pracy biurowej okaże się w pełni zadowalająca. Chodzi bowiem właściwie o procesor praktycznie tożsamy konstrukcyjnie z Core 2 Duo, tyle że dysponujący zmniejszoną do 1 MB pamięcią L2C i pracujący na szynie 533 MHz.

SiS Mirage 3 to zintegrowana karta graficzna, która absolutnie nie nadaje się do gier 3D, a jej zasadniczą funkcją jest wspieranie odtwarzania materiału wideo. Projekcja z DVD działa bezszmerowo, przy czym można zauważyć dobre skalowanie obrazu. Sprzętowy dekoder MPEG-2 pozwala na odtwarzanie skompresowanych filmów.

Wydajności układu dysponującego dwiema jednostkami przetwarzającymi piksele jest prawie że żadna, toteż należy go oceniać raczej na poziomie stabilności pracy. Ta wypadła wzorowo, czyli nie zaobserwowaliśmy wstrzymania pracy, niebieskich ekranów czy czegoś podobnego. Możliwa jest beztresowa praca w środowisku aplikacji biurowych.

Podkreślić należy, że laptop ten posiada przeważającą liczbę podzespołów właśnie od SiS. Przekłada się to na brak kompatybilności z systemem operacyjnym Linux. Wygląda na to, że są one zbyt rzadko spotykane na rynku, aby doczekały się porządnego wsparcia ze strony społeczności oprogramowania OpenSource.

Choć nie dysponuje mocnymi podzespołami, MH35 hałasuje dość natarczywie (35,6 dB), kiedy nie wymaga się od niego nic nadzwyczajnego. Wentylator załącza się co jakiś czas nawet w trybie bezczynności. Dość głośny jest szum talerzy dysku twardego (33,8 dB).  Maksymalny poziom hałasu układu chłodzenia,  jaki zmierzyliśmy przy intensywnym obciążeniu, to 42,3 dB.

Ciepło

Obudowa MH35 nagrzewa się w stopniu minimalnym. Pulpit pozostaje w całości przyjemnie chłodny. Spód notebooka robi się wyraźnie cieplejszy tylko w okolicy wentylatora. Ta korzystna właściwość jest jednym z najmocniejszych punktów prezentowanego modelu.

Głośniki

Z braku czasu (test został skrócony) nie przysłuchiwaliśmy się im zbytnio, ale to raczej standardowe pikacze, po których nie można się spodziewać nie wiadomo czego. 

Wydajność akumulatora

Choć notebook PB przejawia dość skromne zapotrzebowanie na energię elektryczną, akumulator o pojemności 4400 mAh (48,8 Wh) nie pozwala na zbyt wiele. Niespełna dwie godziny pracy bez specjalnego forsowania komputera to wynik godny laptopa z Celeronem, a nie z procesorem dysponującym technologią SpeedStep.

Podsumowanie

Packard Bell MH35 to laptop, który nie wygląda na swoje rozmiary.  Jest on również stosunkowo lekki, a każdy dekagram czyni przecież niebagatelną różnicę przy przenoszeniu komputera. Z mobilnością MH35 nie jest jednak najlepiej, a to ze względu na niezadowalająco długą pracę na zasilaniu akumulatorowym.

Sprzęt ten jest też dość głośny, a wydajność karty graficznej mocno ogranicza pole zastosowań do podstawowych aplikacji. Mankamentem jest też mało funkcjonalny (jeżeli nie przyzwyczaimy się do pukania w tabliczkę) gładzik.

Atutami Packard Bella są dość solidna, sztywna obudowa z dobrze spisującymi się zawiasami oraz praktycznie żadne nagrzewanie się korpusu.
