Test Packard Bell EasyNote BG46

Pod napięciem. BG46 to jeden z nowych laptopów Packard Bella wyróżniających się jasną obudową. Producent pokusił się o przykrycie pulpitu panelem z aluminium. Niestety, wskutek przebicia z układu zasilania pulpit jest pod napięciem, co nie jest może groźne, ale na pewno niekomfortowe.

Obudowa

Już ze wstępu można wywnioskować, że jak na produkt PB model BG46 ma znamionować cechy wysokiej klasy. Trzeba odnotować, że laptop wydał się nam estetyczny, choć nie nazwalibyśmy go eleganckim. Wzornictwo nie jest zbyt wyszukane, toteż pomimo włożonych starań co bardziej wybredni będą dostrzegać prostotę koncepcji. W przypadku taniego laptopa to akurat nie strata.

Kiedy podłączymy zasilanie z ładowarki można jednak odczuć mrowienie prądu elektrycznego na aluminiowym pulpicie. Smyra on delikatnie opuszkę palca, którym wodzi się palcem po obudowie. Łatwo to stwierdzić, odcinając zasilanie z ładowarki.

Drugi problem ma więcej wspólnego z solidnością konstrukcji. Kiedy kładzie się nadgarstki na pulpicie, zamierzając pisać na klawiaturze, rozchodzi się donośne skrzypienie (bardziej intensywne z prawej strony). To jednak skrzypi nie aluminium, tylko plastik na spodzie obudowy. Poza tym, jeśli dokładnie się przyjrzymy, stwierdzimy, że wykonanie nie jest najwyższej klasy. Świadczą o tym choćby nierówne krawędzie poszczególnych elementów.

Ograniczenie kąta rozwarcia ekranu do około 120 stopni nie jest większym problemem jeżeli chodzi o swobodę przyjmowania różnych pozycji podczas pracy. Kiedy przesuwa się jednak ekran do maksymalnego kąta rozwarcia, używając komputer na kolanach, obudowa wyświetlacza zamienia się w dźwignię i podważa platformę roboczą, która jest windowana do góry. Podczas pracy z laptopem stojącym na biurku nie obserwujemy takiego efektu.

Z drugiej strony, kiedy laptop spoczywa na kolanach, ekran nie majta się przy przestawianiu, natomiast na blacie biurka trochę się telepie przy korygowaniu ustawienia.

Osprzęt

Klawiatura nie zyskała naszej aprobaty. Nie przesądziła o tym bynajmniej kultura pracy – ta jest zaskakująco dobra. Przede wszystkim porażką jest chaos oznaczeniowy. Orgia kolorów i znaków będzie mienić się w oczach osobom potrafiącym pisać jedynie wzrokowo. Dość powiedzieć, że na licznych płytkach możemy znaleźć sześć a na niektórych nawet siedem symboli. Sprawia to, że oznaczenia są absolutnie nieczytelne i najlepiej  polegać na wyrobionych nawykach.

Drugi kolosalny minus należy się za rozmieszczenie klawiszy, a konkretnie umieszczenie małego prawego shifta za kursorami i pod enterem. Tym samym można rzec, że na klawiaturze BG46 pisanie to katorga, ewentualnie możliwe jest warunkowo – trzeba się przyzwyczaić do nieużywania tego newralgicznego klawisza.

Efekt nieszczęśliwego układu jest taki, że z początku notujemy zatrzęsienie literówek, ale po jakimś czasie możliwa jest poprawa jakości pisania, jeżeli tylko użytkownik wpoi sobie nawyk posługiwania się wyłącznie lub chociaż przeważnie lewym shiftem.

Touchpad jest pożytecznym przyrządem wskazującym. Faktem jest, że tabliczka jest niewielka, a przewijanie w pionie jest poważnie utrudnione. Gładzik ma jednak korzystne właściwości ślizgowe. Na pozytywną ocenę rzutują też przyjazne użytkownikowi przyciski towarzyszące – ich klik jest nieprzesadnie głośny, a przy tym nie stawiają one nadmiernego oporu.

W touchpadzie bajerem jest to, że obwódka się zaświeca na biało przy kontakcie palca z tabliczką.

Packard Bell dysponuje 12-calową matrycą WXGA (1280x800) typu lustrzanego. Wyświetlacz ten nie wypada może szałowo jeżeli chodzi o odwzorowanie kolorów, ale broni się dzięki innym walorom.

Najbardziej doceniliśmy wysoką jasność obrazu. Średnia dla maksymalnej luminancji wymiarze 184 cd/m jest zupełnie przyzwoita (jej wartości szczytowe przekraczają 200 cd/m). Rozświetlenie na poziomie nie jest złe 78,6%. Jeżeli chodzi o mierzalne parametry szwankuje tylko maksymalny kontrast wyrażający się proporcją 158:1.

Czytelnikowi należy się trochę wrażeń z obserwacji odwzorowania barw. Zieleń wydawała się nam deczko szarawa, czerwień byla jakby gorzej nasycona niż w innym testowanym równolegle małym laptopie średniej klasy, odcienie szarości zaniebieszczone, sama zaś barwa niebieska nie dość głęboka.

Osiągi

W testowanym przez nas EasyNote BG46 zastosowano procesor Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 (1,66 GHz). Oferuje on wydajność zbliżoną do Pentium DC T2370. Różnica w osiągach tych jednostek jest właściwie nie do wychwycenia, o ile nie mamy na podorędziu notebooka dysponującego drugim z procesorów. Nie należy tego jednak poczytywać za jakąś plamę na honorze Core 2 Duo – po prostu Pentium DC jest tak dobrą acz niedocenianą konstrukcją.

Packard Bell BG46 jest standardowym subnotebookiem i jego konstruktorzy nie porwali się na zastosowanie karty niezintegrowanej. No i dobrze – wykorzystanie tej ostatniej obciążyłoby zbyt mocno niezbyt wydajny układ chłodzenia. Zintegrowany układ GMA X3100 jest wystarczający do większości zastosowań (poza bardziej skomplikowanymi grami), a wydziela znacznie mniej ciepła.

Wpływ na otoczenie

Hałas

Laptop Packard Bella nie jest może cichy, ale też nie można go uznać za sprzęt przesadnie uciążliwy dla zmysłu słuchu. Oczywiście od laptopa tak niewielkich rozmiarów, posiadającego nieprzesadnie wydajne podzespoły oczekiwalibyśmy więcej, ale i liczące się marki mają problemy z wyciszeniem komputerów zamkniętych w niewielkich obudowach.

Co pocieszające, maluch Packard Bella nie staje się dużo głośniejszy podczas pracy z obciążeniem.

Nawet podczas upałów model BG46 nie nagrzewa się przesadnie. Temperatura maksymalna części spodniej i wierzchniej platformy roboczej przekracza w porywach 42 stopnie, ale to w nieklimatyzowanym wnętrzu i po dłuższym stresie. Można śmiało próbować działania na komputerze trzymanym na kolanach. Jeżeli chodzi o pulpit, skrajną wartość zmierzyliśmy w miejscu, które rzadko się dotyka. Wszelako 37 stopni na touchpadzie może nieco dokuczać.

Grają dość rachitycznie, ale to zrozumiałe. Jak na wymogi stawiane subnotebookom są one w każdym razie znośne. 

Wydajność akumulatora

Mały akumulator o pojemności 38,5 Wh nie potrafi zasilać laptopa zadowalająco długo. Najbardziej wymowny test z aktywnym modułem WiFi dał czas tylko 105 minut. Użytkownicy internetu wiedzą przecież, że jeżeli człowiek zatraci się w przepastnych otchłaniach sieci i spędza upływające chwile ciekawie, dwie godziny bez kwadransa mijają, zanim się obejrzymy.

Maksymalny czas pracy wynosi około trzech godzin, ale jako że przy ustawionej minimalnej jasności obrazu i tak nie widać na ekranie, postanowiliśmy nie mierzyć go dokładnie.

Podsumowanie

Packard Bell EasyNote BG46 jest dość przeciętnym laptopem, nawet pomimo swojej oryginalnej kolorystyki. Z jego testu niewiele zapadłoby nam zatem w pamięć, gdyby nie fakt, że na aluminiowej płytce wieńczącej pulpit dało się odczuć przebicie prądu z ładowarki. Zjawisko to nie jest niebezpieczne ani dla sprzętu, ani dla użytkownika, ale może budzić nieprzyjemne odczucia, szczególnie u użytkownika z krótkim stażem w świecie komputerów, który dowie się o tym fakcie.

Dla początkującego nabywcy BG46 nieszczęściem będzie też klawiatura z nieczytelnymi oznaczeniami klawiszy i shiftem wyprowadzonym zbyt daleko w prawo, za kursory. Poza tym przeszkodą w komfortowym użytkowaniu może być brak wbudowanego napędu optycznego. Nie spodobał się nam fakt, że wentylator pracuje bez przerwy (choć cicho). Użytkownika, dla którego liczy się mobilność małego laptopa pognębia krótka praca na akumulatorze – z trudem przychodzi mu pociągnięcie choćby przez dwie godziny.
