Test Asus X61G

Asus X61G należy do modeli, które są konfigurowane według życzenia sprzedających je sklepów. Jakość tych notebooków nie odbiega jednak od ich odpowiedników, za które w pełni odpowiada Asus - ekwiwalentem X61G jest model F50GX. To laptop z kartą grafiki GeForce 9400M, a więc tą samą, którą zastosowano w notebookach Apple.

Obudowa

Obudowa X61 jest dostosowana do najnowszych trendów. Choćby po niej możemy poznać że mamy do czynienia z laptopem przeznaczonym do zastosowań domowych. Jest ona ozdobna, odbija światło większością swojej powierzchni oraz posiada zaokrąglenia na krawędziach i rogach. Różnica drastyczna, rzucała się w oczy tym bardziej, że jednocześnie testowaliśmy biznesowego Asusa B50A.

Skoro jesteśmy przy tym ostatnim - sztywność obudowy X61G nie odbiega od chwalonego przez nas pod tym względem B50A. Platforma robocza jest równie solidna, a to, że nie wydaje się tak konkretna i odporna wynika z tego, że błyszcząca powierzchnia plastiku robi wrażenie miękkiej. X61 da się bez problemu podnosić za przedni róg obudowy, identycznie jak w przypadku B50A. W biznesowym Asusie nie stwierdziliśmy skrzypienia żadnego elementu obudowy; tymczasem w opisywanym niniejszym multimedialnym X61 bardzo nieprzyjemnie trzeszczała pokrywa na spodzie z lewej strony, kiedy chwyciło się tam laptop w celu przenoszenia lub zmiany pozycji przy używaniu go na kolanach.

Pulpit o śliskiej, jakby tłustej fakturze jest miły w dotyku. Obudowa brudzi się, ale w świetle dziennym nie jest to widoczne. Dotyczy to pulpitu, bo na ramce ekranu odciski palców są wyraźnie widoczne i w dzień. X61 nie posiada co prawda czytnika linii papilarnych, ale za taki może uchodzić belka z przyciskami przed tabliczką dotykową - po byle muśnięciu zostają na niej ślady, tak że można poznać, czy ktoś korzystał z laptopa. Jako że testowany sprzęt był już wcześniej użytkowany, mogliśmy się przekonać, że wrażliwa na zarysowania jest srebrna listwa za przyciskami szybkiego dostępu.

Zawiasy w naszym egzemplarzu pracowały dobrze - opór przy poruszaniu był w zasadzie optymalny, ale ekran niestety trochę się kolebał po zatrzymaniu w żądanej pozycji a także kiedy komputer był poddawany wstrząsom. Przy prowadzeniu za róg przy otwieraniu pokrywa ekranu wyraźnie się wykrzywia, ale nie wygląda to niebezpiecznie.

Osprzęt

Już w kilku Asusach widzieliśmy klawiatury takie jak w X61. Różni się ona od tradycyjnych tym, że górne płaszczyzny klawiszy są większe ze względu na mniejsze obcięcie płytek, przy czym profiluje się je tylko z dwóch stron (z lewej i u dołu). Skutkiem tego użytkownikowi nieco trudniej wyczuć, czy to już właściwy klawisz czy sąsiedni. Osoba pisząca bezwzrokowo nie będzie miała z tym jednak większego problemu, a przywyknięcie do tej klawiatury nie trwa długo.
 
Po przyzwyczajeniu się do klawiatury pisze się dość wygodnie, choć znajdą się zapewne użytkownicy, którym będzie przeszkadzać niewielka (nieproporcjonalnie mała w stosunku do wielkości palców) wklęsłość na wierzchołku klawiszy. Na krytykę zasługują też nieco krótka spacja, nieduży klawisz Enter oraz włączenie klawiszy kierunkowych w główny blok klawiatury.

Komfort pracy jest pewnie zasługą dobrze dobranego, dość krótkiego skoku i właściwego amortyzowania klawiszy; uderzające w nie palce nie napotykają na twardy opór przed odskokiem. Nie od rzeczy jest również to, że wykonano ją z dobrej jakości, matowego tworzywa.
 
Klawiatura się nie ugina. Nie jest głośna i nawet pisząc w szybszym tempie czy mocniej stukając nie powoduje się uciążliwego dla otoczenia hałasu.

Klawiatura X61G jest pełnowymiarowa, obdarzona wydzielonym blokiem numerycznym. Stanowi to duże udogodnienie w przypadkach, kiedy użytkownik potrzebuje wprowadzać duże porcje cyfr.
 
Za klawiaturą znajduje się niewielki panel sterujący, gdzie obok wyłącznika pomieszczono kilka niewielkich przycisków odpowiadających za: uruchamianie ExpressGate (wynalazek Asusa pozwalający korzystać z podstawowych funkcji komputera bez uruchamiania zasadniczego systemu operacyjnego), zmianę trybów pracy Power4Gear, uruchomienie przeglądarki, wyłączanie gładzika.

Tabliczka dotykowa jest dostatecznie obszerna. Jej powierzchnia jest nieco za "sucha" i przypomina w dotyku kartkę papieru. Ślizg nie jest więc optymalny, ale mimo to idzie operować gładzikiem w sensowny sposób.

Nie lubimy przycisków touchpada w postaci jednej belki i nie przypadło nam do gustu takie rozwiązanie zastosowane w X61. Przyciski są twarde i ich używanie jest na dłuższą metę męczące. Pochwalić można tylko to, że nie hałasują.

Matryca Asusa X61G ma przekątną 16" i rozdzielczość 1366x768. Jest formatu 16:9, idealnego do oglądania filmów.
 
Matryca produkcji Samsunga wyróżnia się dość wysoką jasnością obrazu. Wartość skrajna luminancji to blisko 250 cd/m², a średnia z dziewięciu pomiarów - około 215 cd/m². Kontrast natomiast nie jest wygórowany - jego proporcja to 191:1.

Użytkownik może skorzystać z pięciu predefiniowanych profili: Normal, Gamma Correction, Vivid Theater i Soft Mode (zmiana następuje poprzez kombinację klawiszy Fn+C). Różnice między nimi nie są specjalnie duże, aczkolwiek naszym zdaniem najlepiej używać trybu Theater.

Odwzorowanie kolorów jest zadowalające, z wyjątkiem może zielonego. Godna wzmianki jest dobra jakość bieli, która wydawała się nam tylko minimalnie zaczerwieniona.

Osiągi

Testowaliśmy wersję z procesorem Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 (2,0 GHz). Jest to Penryn (rdzeń wykonany w technologii 45 nm), tyle że w przeciwieństwie do tych znanych wcześniej korzystający z magistrali FSB 800 MHz i 2 MB pamięci L2 Cache. Porównując jego wydajność z innymi procesorami Intela, można stwierdzić, że jest nieznacznie ale jednak lepszy od Pentium Dual-Core T3400 (2,16 GHz) a niedużo mu brakuje do Core 2 Duo P7350 (2,0 GHz).

GeForce 9400M G (układ tożsamy z Nvidia Ion) to karta zintegrowana, korzystająca nie z własnej pamięci VRAM, a z współdzielonej systemowej (256 MB). Rdzeń (wykonany w technologii 65 nm) jest taktowany z częstotliwością 450 MHz, a jednostki cieniujące (w liczbie 16) - 1100 MHz. To najwydajniejsza z grafik zintegrowanych, nieco szybsza od ATI Radeona HD 3200 a dwukrotnie lepsza od GMA X4500M Intela.

Hałas

Na kulturę pracy Asusa X61G nie można narzekać. Nieco głośny robi się przy obciążeniu.
 
Podczas standardowej pracy biurowej wentylator staje się słyszalny co kilka minut i na kilkadziesiąt sekund. 
 
Przy obciążeniu procesora i dysku wiatrak pracuje jednostajnie, kiedy już przyjmie określoną prędkość obrotową. Maksymalne natężenie hałasu, 37,8 dB, jest może wysokie, ale tylko jak na rygory notebooków ze zintegrowaną kartą grafiki.

Dysk twardy nie jest zbyt głośny podczas normalnej pracy (przesadnie hałasuje tylko przy obciążeniu w rodzaju przeprowadzania defragmentacji), nie mniej jednak głowice wydają charakterystyczne dźwięki przypominające stukot kostki lodu w szklance.

Ciepło

Rzadko spotyka się notebooki tak chłodne jak Asus X61G. Ostatnimi czasy właśnie laptopy tej marki przodują w tej dziedzinie. Co prawda pomiar przeprowadzono w stosunkowo niskiej temperaturze otoczenia, ale po kilkugodzinnym teście obciążeniowym była zadziwiająco chłodna poza spodnią okolicą usytuowanego z tyłu wylotu kanału wentylacyjnego. To wartościowa cecha, o ile zamierzamy pracować z laptopem trzymanym na kolanach.

Głośniki są raczej liche; grają słabiej od tych z biurowego w końcu Asusa B50A, którego testowaliśmy jednocześnie. Dźwięk jest płaski, przenoszone pasmo nader wąskie. Przy maksymalnej sile głosu dźwięk staje się nieczysty, wkrada się miejscami pobrzękiwanie. 

Wydajność akumulatora

To nie jest domena Asusa X61G - wydajność baterii leży i kwiczy. Akumulator nie jest szczególnie pojemny (4500 mAh, 49 Wh), a na skutek dość dużego poboru mocy jak na laptop ze zintegrowaną kartą grafiki (ale też o mocno podświetlonej matrycy), szybko się wyczerpuje.  
 
Należy być zadowolonym, jeżeli uda się pracować z Asusem 2 godziny. Absolutne maksimum to 2,5 godziny z drobnym okładem.

Asus X61G nie zagrzał długo miejsca na naszym rynku. Popularniejszy i nadal sprzedawany jest bliźniaczy model F50GX - ustalenia z recenzji stosują się do niego w pełnej rozciągłości.
 
Przetestowany notebook ma dość fajną obudowę, która mimo że błyszcząca, nie wszędzie się palcuje. Jest niemal równie solidna jak ta biznesowego B50A, co dobrze o niej świadczy. Biorąc pod uwagę, że to Asus, można by się obawiać, że okaże się ciężki, ale akurat X61G jest wyjątkiem od reguły. Można go wręcz zaliczyć to najlżejszych notebooków z ekranem 16-calowym.
 
Zaletą X61G (i F50GX) jest także pełnowymiarowa klawiatura, na której pisze się sprawnie i wygodnie.
 
Matryca nie jest może wybitna, ale prezentuje wysoką jasność obrazu i zadowalająco intensywne kolory.  
 
Ogólna wydajność notebooka jest przyzwoita, przy czym można pograć na nim w gry sprzed paru lat o niezbyt wygórowanych wymaganiach. Trzeba wszelako zaznaczyć, że GF 9400M ustępuje wydajnością takim słabym układom niezintegrowanym jak ATI HD 3470 czy GeForce 9300M GS.
 
Asus X61G mógłby być nieco cichszy (szczególnie, kiedy zostanie poddany obciążeniu), natomiast trudno o notebook podobnej wielkości, który byłby tak chłodny podczas pracy.
 
Główny mankament omawianego modelu to jego krótka praca na zasilaniu akumulatorowym. Ten czynnik może w ostatecznym rozrachunku przeważyć na korzyść któregoś z Asusów K50, które są lepsze pod tym względem, a mają tylko minimalnie mniejszy ekran.
