Test Asus B50A

Asus zbiera szlify w produkcji laptopów od wielu lat. Wraz z rozwojem koncernu normalnym jest, że jego oferta staje się coraz bardziej uniwersalna. Ostatnio firma ruszyła na podbój segmentu laptopów dla firm. B50A to, w uproszczeniu, kopia ThinkPada. Niewątpliwie sięgnięto po dobry wzór, a Asus dołożył od siebie matrycę WXGA+, wyjście HDMI i głośniki Altec Lansing.

Obudowa

Asus B50 został zaprojektowany na przekór obowiązującym ostatnio trendom. Jest potężny, ciężki, nie błyszczy się, ma matową matrycę bez żadnej szybki.
 
Podobieństwo do ThinkPada bierze się głównie z obudowy ekranu typu clamshell, z profilami na bokach, które zapewniają bezpieczeństwo matrycy w stanie zamkniętym.

Obudowa jest kompletnie czarna, bez zbędnych ozdobników i kolorów. Zasadniczym materiałem konstrukcyjnym jest plastik o matowej fakturze. Na pulpicie zastosowano tworzywo szorstkie, niezbyt miłe w dotyku. Różni się ono od tego używanego w Compalach, ale na pierwszy rzut oka laptop z podniesionym ekranem można pomylić z kadłubkiem.
 
Wspomniany plastik w miejscach wspierających nadgarstki jest solidniejszy niż w ThinkPadach R61. Wykazuje bowiem tylko śladową elastyczność i to przy mocnym naciskaniu/ściskaniu. Obudowa jest porządnie spasowana i nic w niej nie trzeszczy.

Wieko laptopa jest dość grube, ale nie tak solidne jak w Lenovo Y530. Ugina się nieco przy naduszaniu, ale raczej nie ma się czym przejmować - na matrycy nie obserwowaliśmy w takiej sytuacji zniekształceń obrazu (ale może naciskaliśmy zbyt delikatnie).

Zawiasy chodzą lekko, a mimo to trzymają ekran bardzo dobrze. Monitor nie buja się po korekcie ustawienia. Jednocześnie spokojnie można otworzyć pokrywę jedną ręką, choć mechanizm ryglujący jest dość skomplikowany (należy wcisnąć spust i podnieść klapę).
 
Wyświetlacz wygina się trochę przy odchylaniu go za jeden z rogów, ale nie w stopniu, który mógłby zaniepokoić użytkownika. Nie próbowaliśmy podnoszenia laptopa za róg ekranu, gdyż platforma robocza wydała się nam zbyt ciężka. Bez problemu można natomiast podnosić komputer, trzymając go za jeden róg jednostki zasadniczej.

Osprzęt

Klawiatura jest elementem, który można ocenić wysoko. Jest ona podobna do tych stosowanych w zwykłych Asusach, choć może nieco podrasowana. Na pewno bardzo dobrze zamocowana, gdyż w ogóle się nie ugina. Klawisze wchodzą może minimalnie zbyt lekko, ale skok jest w zasadzie optymalny.  

Układ klawiszy jest rozsądny z wyjątkiem tego, że klawisz Fn znajduje się w samym lewym przednim rogu.

Klawisze nie hałasują przesadnie, choć nawet przy delikatnym uderzaniu w nie palcami rozlega się pewien stukot. W testowanym egzemplarzu wyraźnie odbiegał w tym względzie od reszty tylko klawisz Del, którego mocniejsze naciśnięcie powodowało odgłos zbliżony do  dźwięku telegrafu z filmów o drugiej wojnie światowej.

Tabliczka gładzika wydaje się lekko szorstka. W dotyku okazuje się w każdym razie aksamitna i miło wodzi się palcem po jej powierzchni. Właściwości ślizgowe są dobre, czułość odpowiednia, a minimalne zastrzeżenia można mieć jedynie do precyzji działania. Palec nie przywiera bowiem optymalnie do tabliczki, nie do końca można skontrolować wskaźnik i tym samym utrudnione jest manewrowanie kursorem na najmniejszych, milimetrowych dystansach.
 
Przyciski są gumowane, więc pokrewne tym znanym z laptopów HP Compaq. Są jednak dużo stabilniejsze od tych stosowanych przez konkurenta, więc komfort pracy przedstawia się dużo lepiej. Skok nie jest zbyt długi, klik stłumiony i przyjemny dla ucha, więc ogólnie można powiedzieć, że ten element urządzeń wejścia jest udany.

Asus B50A to jeden z nielicznych laptopów tej marki wyposażony w matrycę matową. Ma ona przekątną 15,4” i maksymalną rozdzielczość 1440x900 pikseli (WXGA+). Wyprodukowała ją firma Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT).
 
Jasność obrazu stoi na dobrym poziomie. Wartość szczytowa przy maksymalnym podświetleniu 193,9 cd/m², a średnia dla całego ekranu – 160,2 cd/m².

Uwagi na temat odwzorowania kolorów można generalnie sprowadzić do obserwacji, że obraz jest zaniebieszczony, z przewagą barw chłodnych. Stąd niezbyt dobrze wypadają tony ciepłe. Barwa biała jest lekko niebieskawa.  
 
Obraz okazał się minimalnie ziarnisty, ale widać to dopiero po porównaniu z matrycą nie noszącą znamion tej niedoskonałości.

Osiągi

Zastosowany procesor Core 2 Duo P7350 2,0 GHz jest na tyle wydajny, by podołać wymaganiom większości użytkowników. To jednostka klasy Penryn, powstająca w technologii 45 nm, o częstotliwości magistrali FSB 1066 MHz. W porównaniu z szybszymi Penrynami z sekcji T dysponuje połową pamięci buforowej L2 (3 zamiast 6 MB), ale wydziela mniej ciepła (TDP, ilość energii cieplnej, jaką należy odebrać od CPU, wynosi 25 W).  
 
Wśród dostępnych aktualnie w Polsce konfiguracji Asusa B50A można znaleźć wersje z kilkoma różnymi procesorami, z których wydajniejszy od P7350 jest tylko P8400. Niestety, ten model jest na tyle (niewspółmiernie do różnicy w osiągach) droższy, że naszym zdaniem nie ma sensu dopłacać.  
 
Testowany egzemplarz był wyposażony w zintegrowaną kartę grafiki Intel GMA X4500MHD i jest to jedyna dostępna opcja. Asus nie oferuje klientom wersji z układami wydzielonymi, które są dostępne w opcji w konkurencyjnych biznesowych laptopach Della, HP i Lenovo.

Wpływ na otoczenie

Hałas

Asus B50 jest bardzo cichy. Usłyszeć wentylator przy normalnej pracy (np. obróbce tekstu) to sztuka. Kiedy komputer zaczyna szumieć, hałas nie urasta do rangi problemu, gdyż jest znikomy. Jego maksymalne natężenie wynosi tylko 36 dB.
 
Wentylacja B50A hałasuje nieco podczas sekwencji startowej, po zatkaniu otworów wentylacyjnych a także w trakcie pracy z obciążeniem. 

Cieniem na wizerunku laptopa i jego kulturze pracy kładzie się niestety głośny napęd optyczny.

Ciepło

Pod względem temperatur B50A wypada dobrze, choć może nie rewelacyjnie. Przy normalnej pracy emisja ciepła nie stanowi problemu. Przy pełnym obciążeniu nieco za bardzo rozgrzewa się spód, chociaż wartość 37 stopni Celsjusza tak czy inaczej jest odbierana tylko jako lekko podwyższona ciepłota. Pulpit tego laptopa wydaje się natomiast wręcz chłodny pomimo wielogodzinnej pracy bez wytchnienia.

Głośniki

Asus B50A otrzymał głośniki sygnowane przez Altec Lansing, co jest rzeczą wyjątkową w laptopach dla firm i instytucji. Mogliśmy je porównać z systemem audio tej samej firmy zamontowanym w Asusie X61. Okazało się, że głośniki w B50A grają czyściej, a dźwięk ma większą głębię.  

Wydajność akumulatora

Asus wyposażył B50A w pojemny (5200 mAh, 77 Wh) ale i ciężki (waży 440 g) akumulator litowo-jonowy. Opłaciło się. Zasilany z niego laptop wytrzymuje maksymalnie 5 h, a 3 h to czas osiągany bez większego wysiłku (oczywiście w początkowym okresie użytkowania, kiedy bateria jest jeszcze niewyeksploatowana).

Podsumowanie

Asus B50A
Asus B50A

Testując Asusa B50A doszliśmy do przekonania, że tajwańskiemu producentowi udało się stworzyć niezły laptop biznesowy pomimo braku doświadczenia na tym polu.

Konstrukcja wydała się nam wytrzymała i nie mogliśmy się przyczepić do solidności tego laptopa. Klawiatura B50A jest naszym zdaniem lepsza niż te w Asusach przeznaczonych do zastosowań domowych.

Zgodnie z zasadami sztuki wyposażono B50A w matrycę matową (ekran o parametrach bez rewelacji, ale brak refleksów ułatwia pracę w terenie) oraz pojemny akumulator, przy użyciu którego można się uniezależnić od zasilania sieciowego na trzy godziny i więcej. B50A to notebook stosunkowo cichy i bez tendencji do grzania się.
 
Poza tym że jest ciężki, biznesowemu Asusowi można zarzucić właściwie tylko to, że jest oferowany w dość wygórowanych cenach (w momencie publikowania recenzji dotyczyło to szczególnie wersji z procesorem P8400, którą wyceniano na przynajmniej 4 tys. zł; o kilkaset złotych tańsza wersja z jednostką P7350 legitymowała się dużo korzystniejszą relacją ceny i parametrów).
