Gateway P-6831FX - recenzja użytkownika

Choć laptopy firmy Gateway nie są znane szerszej publiczności, są one dość popularne w Stanach Zjednoczonych, gdzie uchodzą za tanie komputery przeznaczone głównie do zadań biurowych. Niedawno jednak firma wprowadziła na tamtejszy rynek laptopy dla graczy oznaczone symbolem FX. Przy pewniej dozie samozaparcia egzemplarz z tej serii można zdobyć i w Polsce – sztuka ta udała się autorowi niniejszej recenzji.

Obudowa

Zapowiedziany przez Gatewaya (która to marka jest obecnie własnością koncernu Acer) w listopadzie 2007 roku laptop do gier miał swoją premierę na rynku amerykańskim w styczniu 2008. Seria FX (obecnie składająca się z 4 modeli) powstała z myślą o graczach, gdyż, jak wiadomo, dystans ilościowy dzielący laptopy od komputerów stacjonarnych zmniejsza się z roku na rok i mają w tym udział także zapaleni miłośnicy gier. Na koniec warto dodać, że Gateway, pomimo braku działań marketingowych na skalę Della czy HP, wprowadził na rynek serię FX z niemałym sukcesem i do tego w krótkim czasie.

Gateway P-6831FX jest laptopem przeznaczonym do grania i na taki właśnie wygląda. Na pierwszy rzut oka wydaje się dość duży, ale nie odbiega od standardów zarówno jeśli chodzi o wymiary typowej „siedemnastki” jak i ciężar. W wystroju dominuje czerń z elementami ognistej pomarańczy, naokoło klawiatury mamy dodatkowo tytanowe (podobno) wykończenie, a na pokrywie logo FX. Obudowa wykonana jest z wysokiej jakości plastiku, niestety z tendencją do palcowania (podobnie jak pokrywa w notebookach HP Pavilion).

Samo wykonanie obudowy jest solidne, nic nie trzeszczy i nie ugina się. Spasowanie elementów jest należyte, nie ma nigdzie nierównych odległości czy niedomalowanej farby. Zawiasy trzymają matrycę pewnie i stawiają prawidłowy opór przy przesuwaniu ekranu. Sam mechanizm zamykający ekran jest dość ciekawy i działa na zasadzie przycisku umieszczonego nie na pokrywie lecz z przodu laptopa. Nie przeszkadza to jednak w zamknięciu laptopa, wręcz przeciwnie - po zamknięciu nie widać nawet linii oddzielającej monitor od platformy roboczej!

Za klawiaturą znajdują się podświetlane na pomarańczowo przyciski multimedialne (DVD, Play, Pause itp.) oraz wyłącznik komputera. Nad matrycą odnajdziemy kamerkę o rozdzielczości 1,3 megapiksela oraz wbudowany mikrofon.

Jeśli chodzi o złącza, to myślę, że nikomu nic nie zabraknie. Mamy oczywiście HDMI i czytnik kart, jak również dość rzadkie złącze eSATA na zewnętrzny dysk twardy. Większość z nich ulokowana jest z prawej strony, jedynie dwa z trzech portów USB znajdują się po stronie lewej a złącze modemu jest osamotnione z tyłu.

Osprzęt

Klawiatura w FX wykonana jest z tego samego materiału co obudowa. Jest to więc czarny plastik o świetnych właściwościach przyczepnych (palce podczas pisania nie ześlizgują się z płytek), skok jest wyraźny i odpowiedniej długości. Klawiatura pracuje prawidłowo, na całej powierzchni jest sztywna (nigdzie się nie ugina), dźwięk podczas pisania jest słyszalny ale nie głośny. Osobny blok numeryczny jest pełny i żadne klawisze nie zostały pomniejszone.

Gładzik, inaczej niż obudowa, jest wykonany z materiału matowego który raczej zwalnia niż ułatwia ślizganie po powierzchni. Sam gładzik jest duży, wpuszczony na głębokość około 1 mm w obudowę i działa prawidłowo (ma również wydzielony blok do przewijania z prawej strony). Oba klawisze gładzika mają krótki i wyraźny skok i są wykonane z tego samego materiału co obudowa.

Obraz

Zastosowany wyświetlacz to Samsung o symbolu LTN170X2-L02. Jest to matryca 17-calowa, szklana o maksymalnej rozdzielczości 1440x900 (WXGA+). Kąty widzenia w poziomie są dobre, natomiast w pionie raczej słabe.

Osiągi

Ponieważ był to pierwszy test wydajność karty NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS, przede wszystkim interesowało mnie to, jak poradzi sobie ona w starciu z wersją GTX.

W testowanym egzemplarzu osadzono jednostkę Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 taktowaną zegarem 2,2 GHz i dysponującą 4 MB pamięci podręcznej drugiego poziomu na magistrali FSB 800 MHz, 3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM oraz jeden dysk WDC WD2500BEVS-22UST 5400 obr/min SATA (250 GB).

Testy przeprowadzono na podanej konfiguracji bez żadnego podkręcania karty GeForce 8800M GTS (rdzeń/pamięć 500/800 MHz).

Obecnie testuję FX tylko na grze TimeShift. Ze wszystkimi detalami na maksimum i 4xAA w rozdzielczości 1440x900 nie zauważyłem żadnych zwolnień nawet w czasie dużego zamieszania...

Wpływ na otoczenie

Hałas

Zastosowane w FX wiatraczki spisują się znakomicie. Oba pracują osobno - jeden chłodzi procesor i mostek północny płyty, drugi siedzi bezpośrednio na karcie grafiki.

Podczas pracy wiatraczków można wyróżnić dwa stany: pracy normalnej (delikatny szum) oraz pracy wzmożonej (krótkie serie szybszej pracy). Generalnie wentylacja pracuje na drugim biegu tylko od czasu do czasu w seriach po 10-15 sekund, wiec mogę śmiało powiedzieć, że jak na laptop DTR wynik jest bardzo dobry.  

Ciepło

Konstruktorom Gatewaya udało się połączyć wydajne chłodzenie z dwoma tylko wiatrakami. Wierzch laptopa pozostaje niemal cały czas chłodny, jedynie w stresie nagrzewając się z prawej górnej strony przy wylocie powietrza. Podobna sytuacja występuje pod spodem, z tym że odczuwalna temperatura między 30 a 35 stopniami występuje po obu stronach laptopa (dwa wiatraczki i dwa wyloty powietrza).  

Głośniki

Jako były posiadacz Toshiby serii P100 z głośnikami Harmana postawiłem poprzeczkę wysoko i... nie zawiodłem się. Gateway, pomimo wbudowanych tylko dwóch głośników, spisuje się pod tym względem znakomicie. Siła maksymalna głosu jest więcej niż zadowalająca i jedynie chciałoby się jeszcze dostać choć mały subwooferek od spodu do podkreślenia tonów niskich.
